Recap: Toronto vs. NY Rangers
By Sports Network
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Brandon Dubinsky registered a goal and an assist, and Henrik Lundqvist turned away 34 shots as the New York Rangers extended their winning streak to seven games with a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.
Michael Del Zotto scored for the Rangers, who matched their longest winning streak since February 1 to March 2 of the 2005-06 campaign. Marc Staal, Enver Lisin, and Michael Del Zotto each lit the lamp in the win. Marian Gaborik notched two assists and has now recorded at least one point in all eight games this season.
Ian White scored the lone goal for the Maple Leafs, who are still searching for their first win of 2009-2010 and fell to 0-6-1.
Dubinsky's unassisted wrister at the 16-minute mark of the first period broke the scoreless tie.
The Rangers then broke the game open early in the second. Gaborik assisted on Staal's wrap-around goal with 4:36 elapsed. Then, 77 seconds later on a power play, Gaborik fed a pass to Del Zotto, who slapped the puck into the net for a 3-0 New York lead.
White, though, wristed a shot into the twine just 23 ticks after Del Zotto's tally to close it to two goals, which held up through the second.
Lisin's snap shot about 2 1/2 minutes into the third accounted for the final margin.
