Recap: Columbus vs. D.C.
By Sports Network
Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - A heavenly strike by the Columbus Crew's Brad Evans was enough to end D.C. United's season on Sunday afternoon at Crew Stadium.
The Crew earned the 1-0 victory despite the fact that they were outshot almost two-to-one in the game. United also hit the post three times. With the loss, United's season is over and the New York Red Bulls earn the last spot in the 2008 MLS Cup playoffs.
Evans scored the game's only goal in the 77th minute when he took a pass from Frankie Hejduk and unleashed a perfect strike from distance that deflected off the post and in.
The Crew (13-10-7) open their Eastern Conference Semifinal Series vs. the Kansas City Wizards next Saturday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark before returning home on Nov. 8 for the second leg.
