The vets can't believe she pulled through the parvo the way she did...they have christened her 'little miracle dog'!  Now if I can only christen her with a name...

Katie Mae and Jenny Belle may be our finalists.  (I don't actually use the middle name, unless they're in trouble. Isn't that what real moms do?)  smiley

I love love love Katie Mae (i'm not sure if you remember an earlier post from a poll - my mom gave my dog Jiggy the middle name May - although I suppose it could be spelled Mae)...of course, I've always been partial to the name Katie anyway :)

She is beautiful - I'm SOOOOO happy she pulled out of it! I kinda had a feeling, with her age :)

My mom gave big sis Maggie her middle name...May.  She used to laugh whenever we talked on the phone while  Maggie was young, because I would frequently spend much of the time correcting her. Actually, Mom calls her 'Sometimes Maggie May and Sometimes She May Not'.

Still hard to get a good handle on her personality. She wants to play and explore, but she tires easily. I think a friskier girl will be Katy May or Katie Mae, and a more quiet and/or laid back one will be Jenny Belle.

She's probably tiring out due to recovery, but it's hard to say :)

Thanks...that was a subtle hint I was hoping you'd respond to. :-)  It's probably compounded by how emaciated she is.  Seriously, this little dog is only about 4" wide if you look down at her, nothing but skin and bones. The vet said it could take a few months to get her weight right. Her long, skinny legs get shaky if we stay out too long, so we're doing short yard excursions in between long naps inside today. She's stretched out and snoring like an ol' fat man right now.  cheeky

Aww poor sweet girl! I'm glad she's got a loving place to get better now - she couldn't be in a more perfect home. Once she gets that little bit of illness out and builds up some muscle, she'll be running around like crazy - and all the more appreciative of her new family

I'm with Jess, Katie May looks like it fits her (really it does)
I bet the love she will get from her new family will have her little tummy expanding soon. I believe animals especially dogs can sense when they are loved and going someplace great. Kudos to you Jan. Big hearts reap big rewards!

Okay I kind of feel like a party pooper here, but I love the way "Maggie May" and "Jenny Belle" go together, plus she seems a little more somber (at this moment) and I can't help but think of Jenny in Forest Gump who had such a free spirit, which I see in "little sistah"

Silly. Of course Katie's sober; Debi knows she's too young to drink! Now Maggie...well, she's long been able to take turns with me on the "I'll buy if you fly" plan, although we both have a little trouble flying these days. According to the chart on the wall in the vet's office, based on her size, she is around 90-100. One of my ulterior motives in getting baby is livening up big sister. The vet told us a couple of months ago we shouldn't play fetch like we used to, so I'm hoping that running after a little one will give her the "gentle" exercise the vet said would be good for her.

I'm having such a hard time picking her name, Debi. I love Jenny Belle too. It's been so weird seeing her at the shelter in a cage one day (Tue), having her sickly a few hours one evening (Wed), then having her yanked away the next morning and stuck in an iso ward. Total roller coaster. Yea, I have a puppy! OMG, she's dying. By the end of the day tomorrow, I want to have a name for her. She came here as #A1232818. This poor baby needs to be given a name ASAP.

And Ashlie, in deference to the fact she has more than one big sister, her name will either be Katie Mae Harlan or Jenny Belle Harlan. ;-)

What about Harlan Belle and call her Harlie? (I still prefer Katie, but...another option)

No, but that's besides the point.

As to the name Harlan. It would be nice to see it associated with a sweet creature. What about Katie Belle Harlan?
