 1. Will Manny benefit from the trade? (0 points)
50%a. Yes. He will play for the team he likes and Hollywood is a perfect site for his "Manny Acts".
25%b. Yes. He needs to show why Boston is stupid in trading him.
10%c. Yes. Because of Joe Torre. He can rein Manny. He is what Phil Jackson is to Dennis Rodman.
10%d. No. He is poor in fielding and the Dodgers stadium is too spacious for his speed and will increase his risk for injury.
5%e. No. The no DH policy of the NL will provide him less protection.
0%f. No. He listened too much to Boras and decreased his FA value. He will only get half of whjat he is getting now next year.
 2. Will Jason Bay benefit from the trade? (0 points)
35%a. Yes. He is a worthy Manny replacement and now stands to have a chance to win a world series.
50%b. Yes. He has the talent and the superior Red Sox line-up will protect him better that the Pirate's.
15%c. Yes. If he can rediscover his all-star form, he just found a permanent home for the next five years with good pay.
0%d. No. The AL is a tougher field to play. He can't produce what he did for the Pirates.
0%e. No. He will succumed to the pressures of playing in Boston, its media and fans.
0%f. No. He will always be compared to Manny, a player he can hardly match.

+3 thumbs upManny will do well, but not as good as in Boston's Fenway Bandbox, and Jason Bay is a solid player, but I still think Manny will help the Dodgers more than Bay will help Boston.

+2 thumbs upBoston had no choice but to move him. They gave up a bit much to the Dodgers & Pirates, but Jason Bay is an outstanding outfielder who's numbers are actually comparable to Ramirez in 2008. The trouble is that many folks around here don't follow any other team but the Red Sox, so they think that because he played for the Pirates, Bay is basically a triple- A outfielder.
You would think that it's Boston- New York and then everyone else.

Ramirez had become a "cancer" to the team and forced their hand.

+2 thumbs upBoth Manny and Bay are in better places now for their career. When he's happy, Manny is arguably the best hitter in the game, and he has proven that since the trade to LA. Bay has been one of the most underrated players in the league for a few years, due to the obvious problem of playing in Pittsburgh. Now, he has some protection around him in the lineup, and gets to hit in Fenway Park, which is a hitter's dream. This trade is a win-win for the key players involved.
