+16 thumbs upEvangelicals think everyone is going to burn in hell except themselves.  Who wants someone holding a place of power with that type of belief?  I know I sure don't!

+8 thumbs upWhen are people going to learn - religion/spirituality is between you and your God/your higher power - you do not need a 3rd party getting in the middle of that relationship.

I do not believe so.  I think it all comes down to each evangelical pastor.  I mean, each pastor is different and

not all, have the same belief and faith.  Some pastors would not associate with a certain politican, because

the politican's stance of issues.

Egad, I hope you are just attempting to be funny because if not you have no clue what a real evangelical is; I do however that there are many of the "more vocal" evangelical clowns that get the T.V. time that give true evangelical Christians a bad name.  I'll even go so far as to wonder about their true salvationary stance.

Now, Evangelicals have had their political clout demoted if not nearly destroyed by a few men who allowed POWER to override their faith.  If they would have stuck to their faith leading their entrance to the political arena then they and the movement wouldn't have becoming a laughing stock to so many.

My opionion which is like ear lobes, every one has a couple but they may not be all that attrative!

+4 thumbs upKramer if you will change that "all"  to "some" I'll agree with you.  I always say that as a pastor I am in the sales branch not the judiciary branch.  I believe that God is al knowing so he sure doesn't need my help.

+5 thumbs upI personnaly could care less who an evangelical endorses, but it does matter to a lot of people.

+3 thumbs upWhy any candidate has to be beholden to any church over governing the country is beyond be to begin with.
It honestly frightens me that any politician would promise anything to any religious sect.  You govern for the people not for your religion.

+4 thumbs upBeing an evangelical myself, I'd say yes - at least within my own church.  Very few do very little thinking of their own, and vote soley on abortion and gay marriage, instead of the real pressing issues that our nation is facing right now.  Its a bit disappointing.

+2 thumbs upUnfortunately, Religion and Evangelists have way too much power in the political arena!!! One of GW's main selling points was his "Moral Values" and the religious right pushed the issue to the point of getting "Gay Marriage" issues put on alot of States general election ballots which in turn brought out more voters that would vote mainly on "moral issues" instead of the condition of Iraq, health care, social security, etc; etc....

+2 thumbs upDefinitely right.  We're not even going to go into mysterious 2004 ballots in Ohio where people voted for gay marriage to be legal, THEN voted for Bush for president....

+2 thumbs upWhich is why he finds it odd that someone would vote to have legal gay marriages, but vote for a president strongly against them.

+2 thumbs upKantwistaye is right.  As it ends up, the "votes" for Bush on these ballots had stickers placed on them blocking the Kerry vote from the computer and showing it as a vote for Bush.  This is just one of quite a few cases of vote tampering that happened in Ohio under the watch of then-State Attorney General Ken Blackwell... who coincidentally was also the deputy chairman of Bush's reelection campaign.
