+3 thumbs upa Let is a stroke that doesn't count and must replayed. It's a let when the ball touches the net before entering the proper service court, if the serve is delivered before the receiver is ready, if play is interrupted by some unusual occurence (an animal on the court for example)...

+2 thumbs upI believe you will only see a "Let" on a serve and it isn't because the Ball is out of bounds, it's because the ball hit the net, but still went over "In" so they still get 2 serves. I hope that doesn't sound pompous of me, but I do know Tennis.

+1 thumbs upNo, that's exactly what it is. It's not pompous of you, you're just looking at a question that has no possible right answer....

The most common type is if the serve deflects off the net and goes in.  Or it could be a distraction such as a ball from a neighboring court rolling on to your court.  Or another example of one i saw at Wimbledon during the Ivanovic-Dechy match was they called a let when Dechy's hat fell off.

+1 thumbs upKinda, but not really. This is the proper meaning:

If the ball hits the net but lands in the service box, this is a let or net service, which is void, and the server gets to retake that serve. The player can serve any number of let services in a point and they are always treated as voids and not as faults.
