7. Fresno State was the equivalent of a lower seed than George Mason in the NCAA basketball tournament.

8. I was glad to see Danica finally win, and that was a breakthrough moment in sports history, but in my book she doesn't top a guy who came back from cancer to throw a no-hitter in the big leagues.

+2 thumbs up#1 and 2. I think that these should always be an individual athlete rather than a team athlete. What Tiger did just in the last tournament alone is better than any other male athlete combined. Ochoa has 2 majors to her credit also.

1.) I think Tiger should win it, however, i also believe that because he is not going to finish the season, with all the records Tom Brady and the Patriots broke this year, it will end up going to Brady

2.) Look what she did her last year in college, including another Championship and MVP. Look at what she did her first game in the WNBA. And (this wont really be a factor, but just to throw in another thing) has already dunked, being only the 2nd women ever to do that in a game

3.) Giants. The one team that nobody (except Giant fans and NE haters) actually believed would win the Super Bowl. Then, pulled off a great upset over NE as well as upsetting the Dallas Cowboys (yay!) and Green Bay Packers (tear)

4.) What Tiger did at the US Open was amazing. If you watached it or saw highlights, you know what I am talking about. Enough said.

5.) AP was hyped up before the season started. Kyle Bush already has a solid name because of his Hendrick experience, and is now with Joe Gibbs. Ana Ivanovic is a great tennis player, but I don't watch enough tennis (like many other people) to know enough about her. What Stephen Curry did in the tournament as well as the season is purely amazing. He led Davidson to the Elite 8, and 1 win away from a Final 4, where they barely lost to Kansas. What he did was amazing.

6.) What Tom Brady and Randy Moss did was great. Both breaking TD records. However, Brett Favre broke more and (for lack of a better word, I am going to use better, but either way they all broke records, so better is a bad word to use, i know) better records. Such as all-time TD passes, career yardage, etc. The records that Tom Brady and Randy Moss have a better chance of going down then the records that Brett Favre put up this season (not dissing Brady and Moss at all) because to break the records Favre has, you have to stay healthy and be able to compete at that level for a long time. Most qb's wont be able to do that. However, breaking the records that Brady and Moss put up this season will also be extremely diffucult

7.) I really like this one. I believe that if it were @ ASU, it wouldnt quite be AS big, but since it was at the Big House, it made it all that much bigger of a deal. ASU's stadium holds about 16,000 people while Michigans holds over 110,000 people. The size differencial of the schools is just amazing. I think ASU over UM should get it

8.) How can you go against it! The first women player to win a race EVER! Complete history. The sportsmanship was amazing though. I didnt watch it and i didnt see it online, but my dad told me about it and that is amazing also. The no-hitter was also good, but compared to the others, it doesnt compare as great history wise because more pitchers have thrown no-hitters then women who have won IndyCar races and you rarely see the sportmanship. Not taking anything away from the no-hitter, that was also great.

1. Tiger Woods will win any ESPY he is nominated for this year.

2. It SHOULD be Ochoa.  She is doing things only comparable to Tiger.

3. Toss up between Celtics(boo) and Red Wings.  No one else comes close.  I pick my Wings.

4. See 1

5. Should be a good battle between Curry and Peterson.

6. Brady/Moss, I dont see anyone else coming close.

7. Fresno St. See Kramers post in #1

8. Only a Chuck Norris tear can beat cancer. That and John Lester apparently. Way to go Lester, great game that was.

Nobody will EVER convince me that Fresno winning was comparable to George Mason. BTW when was the last time the Mens BB tourny was double elimination? Give that arguement a rest.

Also I will NEVER ever vote for the Red Wings as the best of anything. On the Patrick thing a no hitter is way more rare than a driver winning beacuse the rest of her field ran outta gas. Let her do it on American soil and then maybe I will really give attention

+1 thumbs up#8 - THe girls carrying the injured player FROM THE OTHER TEAM around the bases defines what sports are all about...competition AND good sportsmanship.  I made sure I taped the news that night to show my two young girls what happened.  Those girls were much better sports role models than almost any pro athlete I can think of for my kids.

That is a pretty poor list for best athlete.  Joe Thornton is a better athlete than all those guys on the list combined. It could be convincingly argued that Victor Horvath is the world's best athlete these days.

The best team of the year is Red Wings.  But a case could be made of the NE Patriots.
If the category was "Team of the Year" instead of "Best Team", it would easilly be the Red Sox for finally breaking the curse and winning their first legit World Series in 89 years.

The record breaking performance is an absolute no-brainer.  It would be a travishamockery if anything other than the breaking of the home run record does not get that.
Same if FSU winning the CWS doesn't get that award.

1.  C'mon, even when he can't do it, he does it.  And no one does it on a consistent basis as Tiger.  Of course, he never had the Giants D-Line trying to rape him.
2.  Yeah, Parker's pretty good.  And way better looking than her b/f
3.  Homer pick.  But if New England would have won, it would have been unanimously them.  So it stands to reason the team that beat them, and the top 2 teams in the NFC, is the best.
4.  C'mon, wasn't that awesome?  And I hate golf.
5.  Maybe coulda went w/ Curry, we'd never know his name if he didn't perform the way he did, but who could have seen Peterson being this good, this soon?
6.  Two people working as awesomely together is a beautiful thing, and look what they accomplished.  Barry's may or may not be tainted, but regardless, he's a taint.
7.  Homer pick.
8.  Even a Yankees fan can admit, this is a great story.
