+1 thumbs upMy Take:

First, Obviously I think Green Bay SHOULD try and keep him, but that obviously doesn't seem to be likely at this point.  They ABSOLUTELY MUST try to trade him, if he'll cooperate...if he won't, then obviously they MUST try to make conditions...those conditions have to be at a MINIMUM no team in the Division, if they can't extend it to the Conference.

However, Brett Favre has earned a bit in his career, and if I can get used to Joe Montana and Emmett Smith and Jerry Rice in other uniforms, I suppose Brett wouldn't kill me either.  Where would I like to see him play?  Minnesota, if not Tampa Bay or Carolina.  Those three teams (with Minnesota on the top of the list) would give him the greatest chance of winning another Ring.  I'm not going to try and sit here and tell you I'm a Favre fan...I'm not...I don't like him, but an all-time great is and all-time great, my feelings aside.

He ABOSLUTELY CANNOT go to Minnesota...but it would be the sweetest deal out there with their WR's, RB's, OL, and Defense...plus, it would be ironic if Brett came back to play for the team whom Green Bay was going to retire his number and locker against!

On a separate and completely selfish note, this needs to happen NOW.  10 of us FanIQ'ers are doing a draft on Sunday...he needs to be released, sign with Minnesota...Yahoo needs to update their rosters...all before noon Pacific on Sunday (July 13th).  No, I'm not selfish at all!

I believe he will be traded. An "unconditional release" will allow him to go to Minnesota, Chicago, or even Detroit and the Packers would have to be completely brain dead to allow that to happen.  He will either stay in Green Bay as a backup QB (which is unlikely because Brett is too cocky to back up anyone) or he will be traded (the most likely scenario) to an AFC Team. Probably Kansas City, New York (jets), or Baltimore, or Miami.

+1 thumbs upBig problem with a trade is Brett's contract -- something like 3 years left @ 39 Million.  No one will take that contract.  In order for a trade to  get done Brett has to agree to 'renegotiate' his contract.  If the Pack tries to trade Brett to a team that Brett doesn't want to play for, Brett simply blocks the trade by not renegotiating his contract.  The Packers cannot legitmately afford to keep him either -- they can't afford his contract any more than any other team.  Thus, the only way the Pack trades him is with Brett's cooperation.  If Brett doesn't cooperate, the Pack will have to release him, assuming that Brett actually applies for reinstatement.

+2 thumbs upThey need to keep him, make him their back-up and let him sit on the bench... he wants back, he is back - last time I checked, no one in any profession is guaranteed their job back once they leave.  I understand that he did not "technically" leave, but he left... and for Green Bay to bring him back and start him kills any credibility they may have.

Does anyone out there really believe that Arron Rodgers gives Green Bay a better shot at a superbowl than Brett Favre?

its time to have all involved kiss and make up - why would any team not welcome back their best shot at a title?

I think everyone would agree the Packers have a legit shot at a superbowl...

+2 thumbs upI dont think GB is getting to the Super Bowl with or without Favre. At least with Rodgers it would be due to his inexperience. Now with Favre he would throw an ill-timed pick and allow the opposing team to kick the Game winning field goal. Oh wait that happened didnt it?

+2 thumbs upThis is going to get a lot worse before it gets better for me it's a no brainer it's Brett Favre how do you not make him your starter? The Packers aren't helping themselves at all the Packer fans love Brett and if the don't bring him back those fans are going to go crazy. Brett Favre was a little pre-mature in his decision to retire and he is man enough to admit that he made a mistake, It's not like the Packers went out and got Donovan McNabb. The Packers need to think about the good of the team because this is going to be a big distraction to every player on the team. If Brett Favre decides to show up at training camp all hell will break lose because either way somebody is going to end up riding the pine. The Packers should take controll of the situation and either relase Brett or Trade him there trying to protect his legacy by making him back Aaron Rodgers give me a break.
