Ive got to buy an Obama shirt for my conservative family's Thanksgiving/Xmas party this weekend.   Im going to wear it under a button up and pull a Cam Newton when i walk in.  I think ill buy 2 and make one my dirty santa present.  I hope my racist, homophobic, "born again" Grandmother gets it.

Also i need ideas for something that i can spike Coke with.  Rum is out of the question.  Anyone tried any of the flavored whiskeys besides Jack Daniels Honey?

Hey, now that a certain smokable drug is legal in Co, does this mean if you live in that state you can actually write the word for it here and not violate the coc?

first there's this:

secondly, the boy and i decided the current music-scene-mecca is "live from daryl's house." cause if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. so we're gonna do a white stripe thing, him on guitar and vocals, me on drums, french horn and back up. our first album title "tear here," was inspired by a bag of kroger's brand mild cheddar cheese shreds, and boy will there be shreds. ever hear a horn shred? i'll make your m****f***in ears bleed gavotte and hornpipe as we segue into a little something we like to call funktry.

the bad paper-stock-keeper in me forgot to order more 8.5x14" paper, so i dipped into our surplus of 11x17" and started cutting my own. except, the laser cutter will cut a shallow angle if you put too much in. the result is 8.3x14.2" or as i like to call it, barely legal paper.

A police officer pulls a man over for speeding. As the officer approaches the car he can see that the man is very anxious about something.
"Good afternoon Sir. Do you know why I stopped you?"
"Yes, officer... I know I was speeding -- but it is a matter of life or death."
"Oh, really? How's that?"
"There's a naked woman waiting for me at home."
"I don't see how that is a matter of life or death."
"If I don't get home before my wife does, I'm a dead man."

Jason -

Amaretto and Coke is pretty good!

Also, Vanilla or Cherry Vodka and Coke is another option - not my choice, but, a choice.

I've tried the Jim Beam Red Stag which is a black-cherry flavor....it's pretty good and I've heard that the Evan Williams Cherry Reserve is really good?

Jason I can fire up pretty much any thing you want on your T-shirt, then save it as a .pdf for you to download and print out as an iron on. It's super easy and looks good, especially on white tees.

This is what I initially thought of election night.

This just in -    Ben Roethlisberger's rib injury is soooo bad that they are saying that any pressure put on his chest can kill him.

The fractured rib is dangerously close to his heart that any kind of pressure could puncture it.

Whether you like this guy or not, anything life threatening is no joke.

Looks like PIT will be without him for quite some time.

On another note, because my current vehicle has a usb port and I don't have an aux cord, I'm using my usb to listen to the mp3 player. But, it can't read my playlists, so I'm having to listen on shuffle... lots of gems that I haven't heard in forever keep coming up which is kinda nice. And on a morning where I "snoozed"  twice and it took 45 min for me to pop up reaIizing there was no 3rd snooze, then discover I had to get myself and a 4 yr old dressed and be an hour away at work in 30 minutes, I got this:

...
[Chorus]
(Eazy-E)
Standin' on the corner straight slangin' r**ks
Aw **it! Here comes the muthaf**kin' cops!
So I dash, I ducks, and I hides behind a tree
Makin' sure the motherf**kers don't see me
Now my fat sack of r**ks hell yeah I stuffed 'em
Police on my dr**s, I had to pause
And yeah, it's still muthaf**k 'em
Now my game is tight, tight as f**k is my game
Easy motherf**king E or Eric Wright, it's all the same
Now n****s might trip on how I stacks my grip
I gotta have it, b**ch
For the love of this shi**
MOTHERF***ER!!  (<----I yelled this with* Eazy... I think the people in the next car heard me)

[Chorus]...

and all was well :)

Afternoon Q'ers!  Kinda getting back to normal around here.  Most power is back on for people.  Now, the hard part begins.  In the immediate aftermath of a disaster, people rush to help and "do what they can".  I belong to the local Rotary Club and we have had donations of food and $$ coming in.  The hard part is going to be in the wees to months ahead.  Back when 9/11 happened, people rushed to donate blood.  The chairman of the local blood bank spoke at our Rotary meeting about 6 months later and told stories of calling people to donate again, after the 8 weeks had passed.  The response they got was from downright rudeness to "I already gave after 9/11 and I'm not going to give again".

There have been many stories.  Three of our club members lost their homes due to the hurricane.  One of them was at the board of directors meeting last night and was in tears because of all of the support the community has given.  It's simple things that we take for granted...a shower, clean clothes, a place to do laundry...that she has not had.  She said she'd been wearing the same clothes for the past 3 days.  One of our club members is a hair dresser, so she got the spa treatment.  This is just one story.  There are THOUSANDS out there.

Anyway, I miss hockey and don't really watch basketball much...but I went into the Knicks bar and was ASTONISHED to find out they're 5-0. Probably gonna blow it tomorrow night.

Have a happy HUMP day!

He's losing the girl now
His feelings overwhelm her so
but nobody told her
that's not always such a bad thing

It started in whispers
came in when she had her man
swept her away fast
and said, "there's been a
change of plans"

At first she was spellbound
hanging on his every word
Every touch perfect
she could kiss him all night
but he's no longer the bad guy
now he's just her boyfriend
she doesn't know how to tell him
my dear, there's been a change of plans

She turns the phone off hide behind little lies
and shuts the blinds, turns the
lights low laying low
she tells herself that he won't
mind, he'll never mind
and says goodbye but he can't
hear it killing time

She's losing the boy now
feelings they pushed him away
even though he had mentioned
this time we'd like to take it slow
she tried to get inside
he was having none of that
then she started to pull back
she knew she had to change her plan

soon it worked in a chase
all the way he wanted her
but after they made love
he got a little gun-shy
now he's frightened to call her
she tries to play the waiting game
But then she just couldn't take it
she knew she had to change her plan

He turns the phone off hide behind little lies
and shuts the blinds, turns the
lights low laying low
he tells himself that she won't
mind, she'll never mind
and says goodbye but she can't hear it killing time

I'll stand witness to this prosecution
crossing your fingers could they
save me the damn sight
mixed emotions, giggles as the tears dry
I need attention and she needs a solution

Jason - Liberty Medical called, they want Wilford back.

Nick - This is far worse than initial reports of a mere shoulder sprain.  I'll sacrifice the rest of this season if it means my franchise QB gets to sit at home, recover, and actually finish his career.

Ash - You know that rib had to have been broken Monday night.

I want hockey back, the Marlins are going to suck now, and go Blue Deuce!  I want to see Roger Penske finally win his NASCAR championship.

how about the fact Jeffrey Loria got Miami to give them $650 million in public bonds to build the stadium, spent money on the team to give it the appearance of trying to compete, and then dumped all but 3 players from their 25 man opening day roster before Thanksgiving. All the while, he is getting to keep the lion's share of parking, concessions, etc.... for the stadium while Miami-Dade citizens are stuck paying for the ballpark. As well as tourists with the hotel taxes.

As a Mets fan, I am loving it, but there won't be MLB baseball in south Florida until we can get an owner here who will spend wisely and give the fans a better showing than what Loria the Fraud has done.

Hey, go Curse the Lakers (oh, wait, already had that happen to them). Go curse the Magic (oh, been there, done that).

Go curse the Nets and see if Beyonce don't kill you by sitting on you and crushing you to death. That is if Jay-Z don't beat you down first.

What? You don't want to read the most widely read of all the magnum opii I've written for this site?

OK, fine.

Basically, the Marlins (owned by Loria) again sold off all their expensive players, continuing a trend of never spending money while raking in the dough, only this time it was after they swindled the taxpayers into paying for their new ballpark.

He didn't do Only Women Bleed.  It actually was PG performance - it was a little awkward - there was a 12? 13? 14 year old in front of us and I was screaming "F**KAWESOME" (without the stars)

I have to confess I am totally in love with Orianthi.  She blows my mind, and she can play ANYTHING!! No wonder Stevie Vai invited her to play guitar with him when she was all of 15!!!!

I read a transcript of an interview that was recently done on NPR.  It was pretty powerful stuff.  The gentlemen were discussing the American education system as compared with the Japanese system.  The major cultural difference that allows the Japanese to be more successful at math is their willingness to work through potential failure.  One of the gentlemen observed the equivalent of a fourth grade class in Japan and the teacher called the children who were struggling with concepts to work at the board, with the class critiquing their work.  A high level of respect was maintained and the children worked through it til they got it right.  I think our culture sees weakness in struggling to learn concepts, ignoring the idea that the things that cause that kind of struggle are worth struggling for.  I'd hate to think that we, as a society, are giving up on the learning process because we want to rescue our young from going through things that are difficult.

Why do you think everyone gets a ribbon anymore? God forbid that the little bastards figure out that there are winners and losers in life, and if they don't want to be a loser it will take more work. Nah give the f**king crybaby a ribbon for participating so that he doesn't feel bad for not winning.

Good Evening, Everybodee!

Last night's Band Pageant went very well.  Our group performed their best yet.  And since this wasn't competition, there was a fog machine involved.   Cool effect, the audience cheered.

The show is called "Shattered Reality; We're the reason you sleep with a nightlight."  Basically the drum major loses her mind.  At the end, she disappears off the podium.  I'll display photos later.

They have a competition tomorrow.  Hope they continue with better performances.  We'll see if they place.

"Thinking demands effort. Principle presupposes thinking. Conscience presupposes principle. Restraint presupposes conscience. Ordinary civility presupposes restraint. Recognition of a common good presupposes at least a minimal level of civility. Without belief in the common good, the link between actions and all but their immediate personal consequences is severed. Devalue effort and it all collapses."

From a Marvel comic, "Fool Killer"

We've become a nation of Fools, many of whom have no desire to put any Effort into learning, or much of anything else.

It was, and I'm surprised I'm still awake now.  It was late when the event ended, and a few of us went out to eat after, then I took a few kids home, and it was about 1:15am when I got home.  I'm barely running on under 4 hours of sleep.

Mine comes in the form of a raging alcoholic living upstairs.  He falls out of bed, knocks s**t over...

If I knew a good kick to the crotch would sober him up, I'd be on that like white on rice.

Mine is courtesy of deer and coyotes in our area and the neighbor's dogs who don't know what they are, and think barking at them all night long, constantly, will somehow chase them away.  The deer and coyotes learn quickly what is tied up or fenced and what isn't.

BTW, I've even had a moose cow try to "contact" me thru my bedroom window....

If it isn't those dogs, it's the neighbor's on snowmobiles.....the other neighbor who is also insomniac so works cutting up scrap metal, or the other neighbor who plays Rock Band or Guitar Hero and thinks no one can hear it..

This took me way too long. I think it was the ewe.

Evening people ... got out of the hospital this morning, stayed there for 8 days and it was very much needed. Got some new meds added and got a little hope too, so maybe I'll be alright. Met some really cool people there and all the nurses loved me, and it was much more lenient where I was this time compared to two years ago when I went to a different hospital for the same thing. Some friends took me out for lunch over at The Happy Gnome, and got myself a duck burger, so that was a great first experience out.

Now just back to the old routine, including watching a film per night (or try to). Tonight's - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Right, that's what we all saw, but when we heard it was a rib injury too, one could only come up with Monday's game.  Well, better luck next year, Steelers.  This season is now over.frown
