In...

St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays. I am so Irish I get 3rd degree burns from sitting next to lamps that have a bulb with more that 40 watts in it. I have a really strong urge drink room temperature beer and throw a dart at something.

Duke... Lehigh? Really? **** and ***. Kings, keep winning. Braves, it wasn't enough ripping my heart out last year, was it? The Falcons signed Abrahams for three years. I'm ok with that but he better stay healthy, *** ******.

Worked 30 minutes last week, boss saw how whacked my sinuses were and he said go to the house. All week. It has been a beeyatch. This is the time of the year I have to wear a hazmat suit to work in the yard.

Looks like a possible shake up in band. If it goes like I think, it possibly would be a real good thing. Bass player is flipping out and may be replaced. I hate it but I get why others are tired of the BS, I'm slowly getting on board. Dude plays with a couple of other bands, he will be ok. We may be adding another guitarist to replace stroke guy. This guy has great vocals, excellent harmonies, great guitarist which includes slide guitar. I've know him 15 years or so, laid back guy who could be a real good fit. We play next Friday outdoors downtown,  should be a fun gig. After that we reassess things.

That's all I got for now. Good to see Jason out and about.

Later.

It's 5pm, but it's morning to me. Stayed up last night playing poker and looking through Reddit. Hours flew by.

Glad I didn't miss anything too exciting with the two early games, this Murray St./Marquette one has been good for the first half. Can't believe it's only Saturday.

My roommate gets Netflix and does the 1 DVD at a time as well, I have the only mail key, so will snoop to see which movies he gets every now and then. Over the past few months it's been some Twilight movies, "Abduction" (a Taylor Lautner-starred movie), and now it's the 2011 version of Footloose. He can just tell me he's g*y, it won't be a big deal.

Four words Kevin Kolb Matt Cassel.

And we saw more out of those guys before their current teams overpaid for them than we have out of Matt Flynn. I think that his guaranteed contract should be in the 4-6 mil range with a bunch of obtainable incentives that would enable him to earn 10-26 mil over the life of the contract. He preforms like a superstar, you get paid like a superstar. But ONE game with second stringers, against second stringers doesn't make you a superstar.

Also please stop bragging about your warm non snowy weather!

Kolb got $21 million guaranteed. Cassel got $28.5 million guaranteed. $10 million is reasonable compared to that, given the premium quarterbacks get.

Seattle doesn't have a lot to lose, do they? It's better than paying a rookie starter money right out of the draft.

Tim Ruskell screwed this team by not drafting a QB to mold before Hasselbeck left.  Look at what we've got now - T-Jack and Portis. While Portis may prove to be the Hawks QB of the future, he's not ready to step up just yet. Considering the fact that none of the current franchise QBs are going anywhere to come to Seattle, I think 10m guaranteed for 3 years to a QB who has seen some field time and played a couple of games at this point, while it may be a risk, isn't such a bad one to be taking.

Kevin Kolb: $21M guaranteed
Matt Cassel: $28M guaranteed

To say Matt Flynn is worth half or a third of either of those guys isn't crazy.

But this is to say under the current system. If the NFL (and other sports) wanted to re-construct contracts that would actually make sense for both sides, then I agree that your proposed contract would be great.

I guess that's not the link I was looking at - I lost it. But that one DOES say that it maxes out at $26 mil, some of that being incentive $$ - and that it averages 6m per year. People all over are complaining about the money doled out to players by the Seahawks but I personally think they've been very financially responsible since JS and PC got to town.

I didn't like their choice in T-Jack last year, until I understood it. They needed a sacrificial lamb; somebody with a little bit of experience under his belt who's tough and can take a hit. They needed someone they could let that O-line cut their teeth around.

Now they're taking a chance with Flynn...and I think this is the best option Seattle had. I'm glad they went after him rather than trying to go for a franchise QB in the draft at 12th pick (or giving away the farm to trade up).

I know the deal isn't as bad as Kolb's and Cassel's, but I still feel that is too much guaranteed money for a guy with ONE good game as a starting NFL QB. I don't believe that he is worth of that kind of money, when he could still wind up playing backup QB.

His deal is as good if not better than the deal Dallas gave Orton, yet Flynn's stats are no where near those of Orton's.

Orton knows he's going to camp as the #2 and will continue to be unless there's an injury. Flynn is a presumed starter.

$10M for a starting QB compared to $10M for a backup is just different.

That says more about how much Dallas is spending than what Seattle did.

We gave a proven NFL QB decent backup QB money. Seattle gave an unproven NFL QB the same thing. My point isn't that I think Seattle made a bad decision, I don't. I think they paid him too much money. In a year I may be eating crow about this, he may have a great season and prove to be worth every penny. If I was a Seattle fan I would love the signing, I just wouldn't like how much money my team spent.

As for Dallas, this has been one of their better off seasons. we addressed our three biggest areas of concern, DB, OL, and getting  younger as a team. I am happy with what Dallas has done, now we just need to see if it was money spent wisely.
