NASCAR on TV leaves much to be desired. If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand. Basketball, on the other hand, has excellent TV coverage. So I go to races and watch my hoops at home.

The NFL, NCAAF, Hockey, and NASCAR are sooo much better in person.

I didn't include NASCAR in auto racing, because all the others are much better to watch on TV, since many others are road courses.  You are correct that NASCAR is better in person, except in Pocono.

 +3 thumbs upThe NFL and golf are the two events that work a billion times better on TV than in person.

The NFL especially so.  Who wants to sit outside in whatever winter weather the area brings so you can see a bunch of dots smash into each other 100 yards away from your seat?    On TV (particuarly in HD) you get every play right in front of you every time.  Even the close seats suck because how often is the play near your particular yard line?

Golf is obvious.  You get taken around to whatever golfer is doing the best.  On TV it is just easier to keep an eye on the leader board.  The one way golf in person is better is if you want to follow one specific group around the course.  But then, you miss everything else!

1. Depends on the sport

2. Many are better in person, but the spped and crushing hits in hockey make it an easy choice for me.

3. Most seats in NFL stadiums are too far from the action.  I like to see replays also.
