I, like everyone else on this site have found this very upsetting. To think that someone could do this to their fellow human beings is just terrible. As has already been said, it's hard enough when there is a death in Afghanistan but in an American training camp...

Over here in England, this story hasn't got as much coverage as it normally would, as we are just trying to get over 5 of our troops being killed by an Afghan policeman who they were training, and so that has made all of the front pages. It is a tragedy, as was the incident at Fort Hood, but we're both strong countries, and our armed forces are the best in the world.

My heart goes out to everyone who has served in the military, and especially those who have suffered losses. One of my friends served in Afghan, and on his first day of active service he got hit by an IED...he was one of the lucky ones-if you can call it lucky, as he has lost the use of one of his legs, but he is still alive...as I say he was injured on active service, but to be killed before even going out there is truly awful and devastating. All the best to all of our forces

JUST TERRIBLE, like the president said, its bad enough we have to worry about killings in other countries, now we have to worry about our own people on our own soil. THIS FOOL SHOULD BE PUNISHED TO THE MAX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all stand aghast at these actions.  What hurts most is the shooter WORE a uniform as a career...nobody noticed he was on the edge because HE was a physchiartrist...sad and tragic event in our military, no matter what the service.

the guy should have just taken his own life. i'm a Desset Shield/Dessert Storm vet (USN). so how about we turn the guy loose unarmed in the center of FT. Hood, play alittle "running man" ?

The more that comes out about this incident, the more sad it becomes.  There were a lot of warnings that this guy was a ticking time bomb.  It will come out that he had become more and more radical in his Mulsim beliefs.  I think it will also come out that because we are so concerned about being "politically correct" and heaven forbid we offend someone, they allowed this ticking time bomb to go off!  Reports are now on the news that he was yelling "Allah Akbar".

This is a real tragedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in this horrific incident.

This has absolutely shocked me!  My prayers are with the victim's family and all stationed at Ft. Hood.  It's hard to believe that this happened on American soil at one of our own Army bases!  May GOD Bless and comfort the families.

amen to that-- AND it's not a bad thing that this killer wasn't killed immediately after, or committed suicide.  Show this guy no mercy at all!!!

I agree.... Having been a Psychologist, he should have been seeing a Dr. every 4 months himself, for his own mental health. I have never met a good one who didn't!

Very, very SAD indeed. I am a Gulf War Veteran, and I feel bad when any Soldier has to lose a life. It is twice as Bad when it is on American Soil. God Bless the Victims and their Families....

Im saddened by the tragedy and infuriated that he was still waliking around to be able to commit this unspeakable act. KNOCK OFF the political correctness people. This guy should have been locked up long ago for TREASON based on some of his outspoken beliefs. TREASON is TREASON. Quit hiding behind the Freedom of Speech amendment. It does not apply to TREASON.

My prayers go out to the families of our fallen heroes.

i have a feeling, once he gets into jail and all that, hes going to wish he had been killed, i think once the soldiers in the jail know what he did, it wont be pretty..

My brother retired out from Ft. Hood and still lives in Copperas Cove, West Fort Hood, and my niece and her husband live there.  Their daughter couldn't come home from school until after 7pm because of the lock down.  Everyone is okay in our family.  Our hearts go out to the families of everyone who died and those who are recovering.  It is a travesty.

He was just a home grown terroist.   More and more is coming out about him.  I hope he ends up before the firing squad.  My prayers go out to the families of the fallen.  Such a shame we let this happen here.

Cuddle is right though we didn't let it happen. Military life is not an easy one and it does take it's toll unfortunately on some. Being a psychiatrist, he should have recognized the symptoms and sought out help from a collegue.  As one of the people of Fort Hood said, "I wish his name had been Jones."

This was a senseless travesty, that makes me physically ill.  God bless all involved and I pray for strength for those that are going to be in a living hell for a long time to come!

Like several others on here, I too am a veteran of the USArmy, and I had a TDY at Ft. Hood back in the day.  The thing that bothers me the most is that an officer, wearing the uniform and having taken the oath to "protect and defend against all enemies, both foreign and domestic" decided to kill his fellow soldiers in the name of his "religion!"  Sorry, but there is something wrong firing upon your fellow soldiers, knowing they are unarmed.  The signals he was giving off, including seminars to "convert the infidels" while at Walter Reed should have tipped someone off.  Has our military been so desensitized and politically correct that obvious signs of being a domestic terrorist is ignored?  So much blame can be placed at so many people's feet, but ultimately, it is placed at the feet of this raghead jackass that should be tried, convicted, and then SHOT by his fellow soldiers!  Better yet, turn the SOB lose in a Texas maximum security facility, and tell the inmates that he killed American soldiers while yelling "Allah Ackbar!"  Wonder how long he would last?

The whole thing baffles me!  Not only was he an officer, but he worked in the Psychology Dept?  And he was an M.D.?  Who was making suspicious posts online?

And of course .... the Media is popularizing this guy!  Good job news!!  Turn this guy into a postmortem celeb and encourage more dumbF's like the moron in Florida!!
