Happy Thanksgiving all.  Each year is different but usually try to meet at least part of the family.  This year will be my first preparing the meal for myself and the rugrats, no traveling.

Happy Thanksgiving! My tradition is to get up early and put the turkey in the oven. The rest of the family goes to the high school football game. This year I am going to the game because it is my daughter's last year cheering for the team. Then we'll come home and eat and eat and eat. Watch tv, fall asleep then get up and go to the in-laws for dessert. Come home and eat again!

Small group this year; just five of us.  Plus, since my wife has been diagnosed 'pre-diabetic' I am doing so altering in the "cooking/menu."  Still, there will be Seven Layer Salad, Roast Turkey, Mashed Potato w/gravy, Broccoli with cheese sauce, Sage Dressing, and Pie(whatever my mother-in-law brings).  This is GREAT reduction in food options from normal---have to be careful with my wife's dietary needs!!!

Also, after our 2pm dinner it is FOOTBALL & NAPS!!!!!

The truth, dread seeing the family, try and avoid conversation with them, watch football and act like I'm really into it, so not to talk with them. Be forced to eat with them and listen to pointless BS, go home and thank God it's over. Oh wait, I moved 1500 miles away from them, this year, sit on my a$$ and watch football without a care in the world, wooohoooo.

Thanks.... when I was younger the holidays were full of family fights and tension. My ex was the same way. Now that it is just us, I so look forward to the holidays... New traditions to replace the bad memories...... isn't that the beauty of the future?? It is an awesome present!

+2 thumbs upour family tradition for Thanksgiving.. and pretty much any other day of the year, is to just enjoy our time being together and realizing how lucky we are to have been blessed with the family that we have. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Our Thanksgiving changes year to year due to family all over the country and who will be where when.  This year is low key.  If it's not raining, we'll get up in the morning and hit the local flea Market (surprisingly Thanksgiving is their busiest day of the year).  then lunch at Mom's with her homemade dressing and sweet potato casserole.  Then football and naps.  Snacks/dessert/coffee/drinks at my aunt's tomorrow night.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
