Hey I've been there!
Movies are made all over the world, but sometimes they are made in your home state and you go.. HEY, I've been there!!!

I was watching Juno, and that was actually filmed in Canada but based in Minnesota.. kinda nutty..

The movie Joe Somebody was filmed here in MN, and I have actually been to a few of the places in the movie.  The movie Fargo.. ( no we don't REALLY talk like that, ya know...) had a few "exits" I have been on.. Same with the movie the Mighty Ducks, that was filmed here as well.. I am sure there are more, but I don't know them all..

So what about you?  where have you been from a movie scene?  Either from your home town, or if you were out sight seeing in another place..
Post pics if you gotum..

I used to live in Columbus, Georgia, which is right outside of Fort Benning.  Quite a few movies have been filmed in Ft Benning.  One movie from the 80's that was filmed there was Tank with James Garner.  We used to ride motorcycles and 4-wheelers in one of the places that the movie was filmed.  A more recent movie filmed there is We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson.

The Fighting Temptations with Cuba Gooding Jr and Byonce was filmed in the building that my wife to use to work at.  Well, the final scene where they have the choir competition was.

+5 thumbs upThe movie Breaking Away was made in my hometown Bloomington, Indiana in 1979 ( I still live there) I remember them shooting the film when I was 7. It has Dennis Quaid, Dennis Christopher, Daniel Stern, and my favorite Jakie Earle Haley lol! If anybody has seen the movie, I still swim in the Quarry Hole! :)   Really good movie, was up for best picture that year I believe.

+1 thumbs upThe movie Tennessee was filmed in my dad's hometown, Dunlap, TN which is a couple minutes down the road from my hometown, Whitwell.

Heavens Fall was filmed in Chattanooga and Rock Spring (which is where I live now.)

I've been to the FedEx hub in Memphis where they filmed a few scenes from Cast Away.

I've been to a couple of the places where October Sky was filmed....  I was dating a guy who was actually in the movie at the time.

Scenes from the live action version of the Jungle Book were filmed in Fall Creek Falls in Pikeville and I go there all the time.

Sidney White was filmed at UCF in Orlando and considering I lived there when they were filming it, I've been to pretty much all of the locations...  Either before, during, or after they filmed it...

Also, pretty much any movie that was filmed at Disney or Universal Studios in Orlando....  Yeah...  I've been there a "few times"...

I forgot to mention, I have of course been to the Civic (now Mellon) Arena, home of the Pens.  Here's an interesting fact.  The ending scene of Sudden Death was the first time the arena's roof was ever opened.  It wastes way too much electricity to open it all the time, and they screwed something up in the electrical system, so that was also the last time the roof was ever opened.

I also remember watching the stuntman for Inspector Gadget dangling from a helicopter for the end where he falls in front of PPG Place, the big glass building.  The fireworks at the end were shot from Mt. Washington, and they actually shot them off at about 5:00 in the morning and woke me up.  I had no clue why there were fireworks at that time of day, then when I saw the movie I realized it was for the movie.

About Schmidt has many scenes from places in Nebraska. Some from North Platte but the best scenes are from places I've visited around the State of Nebraska. Just so strange watching that movie and seeing all the places I've been!

+3 thumbs upAmazing Grace and Chuck was filmed in my hometown of Livingston, MT and I tried to get in some of the shots but could never see myself in the film.  I alway thought it was strange that when we were supposed to cheer you couldn't make noise, just flap your arms and pretend to yell.

+3 thumbs upTons of movies have been filmed where I grew up, but probably one of the most popular and the longest filming time there was Dante's Peak. We got in trouble for driving through the "ash" that was blocked off one night - you can see the tire tracks that aren't supposed to be there in one of the parts.

The last place I lived up in Washington though, parts of The Guardian and most of The Ring 2 were both filmed. I met Naomi Watts in the store, and we walked down about a block from my house to watch them film some of the rescue scenes in The Guardian.

+2 thumbs upBig with Tom Hanks was filmed near me... One of my old girlfirends was an extra in the background of several screnes.  Also, all of the places from The Sopranos (I know, not a movie...yet) were all shot within 10-15 minutes of my house.  They filmed several parking lot scenes at my wife's office building.  She got to met Drea DiMatteo and said she was really nice.  I work right across the street the gas station from where they shot the scene where Phil's head gets run over by the truck...ouch.  I was there for part of the filming...

Just about everything from the Sopranos.  And the movie Bogus.  Since I've been here in SC, the movie Swimming was filmed here and there's gonna be like 2 more coming in the not so distant future.

Geez, a bunch.  But, I'll only mention the latest:

"Leatherheads" was shot in several towns here in the UpState of S.C. including Anderson, SC which is 12 miles from my home.  A kid from the youth group I worked with had a bit part in which he played a German soldier; he is blonde haired and REAL good looking!!
