I need help!
I have a project that I am working on in school and I need my fellow IQ'ers help.  So, I have two questions to ask that will help me with my project.  Please answer honestly- no looking up the information for your answer.  I am trying to find out about the level of awareness.  Both questions pertain to the U.S.

Once is way too many, it is a shame when men result to violence against their women. If ever things are that bad, it's best to just move on.

+1 thumbs upI don't speak from experience, but I know the response to your comment is: If only it were that easy.  These situations are not very easy to extract oneself from without leaving all that you know in order to escape from an abusive partner.

+3 thumbs upThere is to much abuse in this world. Women & children are the victims. I know I've been there to many times before. It's not easy to walk away. When you try, it happens all over again!!  Today there are more programs to help then there was in the past.  I thank god for the man in my life now!! I am spoiled and loved very much!!! But my heart goes out to the women & children who still suffer today. And I will do anything to help!!!

+1 thumbs upHow many men are victims. I've taken a few punches from an ex-girlfriend. I never returned them. Most of the time I would just laugh, because she would hurt herself trying to hurt ME!

I've taken to pretending every punch hurts and exagerating the pain level so that when my g/f actually does throw a punch that hurts, she can't tell the diff.

This is a huge problem, especially here in SC.  We're #1 in the country in domestic violence, which is truly sad.  I wish there was a clear answer as to how to stop this, but I don't know what we can do.  Maybe they should do a study on that.  But I suppose awareness is the first step.

+1 thumbs upI know. Maybe I will do something else about men. In no way do I leave them out.  There is a large number of men who experience abuse, however, they don't report it as much as women do, due to the stigma of  "men being pansies"., which I don't believe in.  Thanks for your input.

The only statistic I know is 0%.  That's the percentage of times I have hit or will ever abuse a woman in any way.

Unfortunately, emotional & mental abuse can be & sometimes is worse -- & I'm sure I've been a culprit of that.  Keeping my mouth shut is much more difficult than keeping my hand from flying.

+3 thumbs upAny guy who beats up his wife or g/f should be tied up to a chair and the victim should get a bat and 1/2 hour to do whatever they want to the loser.

+3 thumbs upI had to completely guess on both of my answers.  I know it's a problem but had no idea the numbers would be so high.  The "men" that do things like that should be dealt with swiftly, harshly, and with the bat that Mandisdad suggested.  On the other side, women can't use this as a weapon against the men that aren't guilty of doing these things and make false claims against them.  All that does is hurt the real victims of domestic abuse by making people second guess them and give them more hoops to jump through to get anything done about it.

I think the numbers (both) would be lower if the courts handed out stiffer penaltiesand took it more seriously, and the "Fear" didn't hold the abused hostage the the situation...no matter who's abusing who. Sad for everyone involved...especially those who have lost their lives due to the stupidity of excerting ones "Power".
