I usually root for the underdog...unless I hate that team.

I almost always have a routing interest against one of the teams, & I usually just hope for the stadium to fall through a big gaping hole in the earth!

I still watch it, but I usually don't pick a team to cheer for if my team isn't in it.

I find it is more enjoyable if I have a rooting interest.  So I try to find a reason to root for one team or the other.  I am pulling for the Pens in the Finals because I am sick of seeing the Wings be so good every year, for example.

Depends.  Everyone loves an underdog, I'm no diff.  But it also depends on the situation.  Like if a team has never won a championship, or hasn't in so long.  Of course, it may just be a team I don't care for, or whatever.

I love to compete and I love to watch other teams and people compete. I just grew up with a competitive nature. I guess you could say I really don't "have" a team, it is usually the team I live closest too, therefore, I get to see the most. I will never get into a fight (verbal or otherwise) over sports. However, it is still fun to talk about. I think it is funny when I wind someone else up about a team or player. People need to relax a little bit when it comes to talking or playing sports and just simply enjoy it for what it is worth; a competition between two very talented people or teams. I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

+1 thumbs upIf my team doesn't make it, I always support the team representing my favorite Conference. Like the NFC, American League, and Western Conference (NBA), the Pac-10  etc....

Sure why not??? Even though I absolutely despise those teams (depending upon who they are playing)- I would back them in certain circumstances. In fact, last season, after the G-Men beat my Boys and got to the Superbowl- I cheered for the G-Men!

There are players that I like that don't play for my team.  I find myself rooting for the player not so much the team.

+1 thumbs upYou'd think so.  And I wish you were still right.  But that was not the case for the '97 & '03 Marlins, the '02 Angels and '04 Red Sox.  All of whom were 2nd best in their own division.

Your wish has been granted!  I am still right...being second best AFTER the season ends means nothing.  We were talking about losing to the SUper Bowl Champs, not where you placed in the division.
