Long Odds That Danica Patrick Says Anything Interesting This Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend provides us an opportunity to salute our nation's troops past and present, fire up the grills, spend some time with family and friends and sort of pay attention to those weird looking cars going around in circles.

The 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500 will be held on Sunday and our man Gearhead provided you a handy viewing guide to the race earlier this morning. Since he actually knows what he's talking about, I highlight suggest you take a gander. Gearhead will be attending the race, so definitely come back on Monday or Tuesday for a first hand account after he calms down from his high.

I enjoy the 500, but for race car illiterate and degenerates like myself, this interest usually relates to  having some personal investment in the winner. So I'll be throwing a dart at the wall and picking a winner.

Here's your odds for the Indianapolis 500 (courtesy of B'dog)

AJ Foyt IV - 80/1
Buddy Rice - 65/1
Dan Wheldon - 4/1
Danica Patrick - 8/1
Ed Carpenter - 50/1
Ernesto Viso - 80/1
Graham Rahal - 40/1
Helio Castroneves - 5/1
Hideki Mutoh - 40/1
Justin Wilson - 80/1
Marco Andretti - 8/1
Oriol Servia - 100/1
Ryan Briscoe - 10/1
Ryan Hunter-Reay - 50/1
Scott Dixon - 11/4
Tomas Scheckter - 30/1
Tony Kanaan - 5/1
Vitor Meira - 35/1
Will Power - 100/1
The Field - 25/1

My pick? Since I'm unfamiliar with Mr. The Field, I'll roll the dice with Marco Andretti.

After the best three months to happen in American open wheel racing in a long time, it's time for the crown jewel of the year, the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500. This year all the top drivers will be here thanks to unification. Already this year there have been five different winners. Will Indy make it six? Amazingly, none of those wins have come from Penske, but is this there time with two time Indy champ Helio Castroneves? After winning earlier this year, all eyes will be on Danica. Does she keep it going and win at Indy? How will the former Champ Car teams do with the benefit of a month of practice? Finally, most importantly, who will come home to victory circle to sip the milk as the Indy 500 champion?

(Note: questions and answers are subject to change depending on who makes the field.)

+2 thumbs upEdited because Jay Howard was replaced with John Andretti, due to money and Marty Roth's stubbornness. No one picked Howard, but the Andretti name might entice people that have taken it to change their minds, so you've got to input again. Sorry.
