+6 thumbs upIt doesn't matter who the best player on the team is, Jeter is a great player who has been pretty consistent throughout his career- he can field and make big/clutch hits. It's not like he is getting tons of praise for his play, so there is no way you can call the guy overrated regardless of your hate for him because of the team he plays for.

+3 thumbs upWhat a dumb question. You realize that ARod was a perennial All-Star at SS, and was winning Gold Gloves there too, before they moved him to 3B, right? That was one of the dumbest things the Yankees have ever done.

The fact that Jeter is only average at the plate this year (99 OPS+), makes him playing at SS even dumber.

+2 thumbs up Jeter gets plenty of recognition, and in fact has won a few Gold Gloves that could have gone to other players but went to Jeterbecause he is Derick Jeter. He is a great player, but gets plenty of props.

+1 thumbs upokay Derek Jeter has his little moments where he is the best SS in the game but then he will have a downfall. He is a top 7 SS in the league. He is the one of the best playoff performers out there dont get me wrong. But just because he plays for the Yankees everybody thinks hes the best there is. But honestly he isnt. He is just a little overrated but not much.

+3 thumbs upJeter is slightly overrated, but nothing like what the naysayers and Yanks haters like Pat make it out to be.

+3 thumbs upI'm a huge Sox fan, but I respect Jeter (not like him tho). Bottom line is the guy knows how to win. Sure his numbers may not be incredible, but they're certainly not horrible. Either way, you can't argue with 4 WS rings

Its easy to argue with 4 WS rings... how many SS could've won 4 WS rings with those Yankee line-ups?
Yes!!!!

You are both fooling yourself. You and Pat that is. I wasn't aware that the 1996 team had a dominant lineup. Or the 1998 team for that matter. Heck I can't think of any that were all that stellar.

+2 thumbs upWhat are you talking about? The 1998 team led the majors in runs scored. They also led in ERA. The 1996 team wasn't so stacked, but it's also safe to say that Jeter didn't exactly set the world on fire, either. Pretty good for a rookie, but it's safe to say that Jeter wasn't the main reason. Even back then, ARod was way better.
