#4 \| 218 days ago michael_fan_nascarfan (+)	+4 I'm sure that there are a ton of reasons why Tony would want to leave, I don't think Toyota is one of them nor do I think Joe Gibbs Racing is one either. I think he has a lot of ties with Chevy because of his other race teams and let's face it who wouldn't want to capitalize on making more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. No

He has been with JGR since 1999, won rookie of the year, two championships with him, and over 30 race wins. Granted it was all done in a GM product (Pontiac and Chevy). That's where I think his problem lies. He wants to be back in a Chevy, not a Toy. Like you said Mike, all about the almighty $$ and if it takes him to be majority owner/driver for another team to get the Chevy ride back, he possibly could go that route. While at Dega last weekend, I read an article in The Birmingham News quoting Gibbs' son as saying, "the last time contract negotiations came up with Tony, was the reason Joe went back to coaching football, to pay for his (Tonys') contract". Just shows what coach will do to keep his driver, but with Kyle on board now, Tony may no longer be the #1 man in the stall, especially as hot as he has beeen lately. What'll happen at the end of '09, Joe selling the team to keep Tony??? Yes
