+11 thumbs upTexas already has 3 teams, California already has like 4 teams and Florida has like 2 teams so a new team should be in a state that has no team.

OK City? I guess they are going to get one anyway once Seattle moves.

+1 thumbs upI went with San Diego simply because it's a beautiful city and would be an easy place to start up, attract free agents, etc.  No other cities on the list exemplify any kind of quality NBA atmosphere, outside of San Francisco.  And while a Bay Area rivalry would be cool, there's already so much attention focused on the Warriors that there wouldn't be much left for a new team in SF.  Two teams in Tennessee? When one can't even make it? Cities like Louisville and Jacksonville are way too country.  And as addressed elsewhere with MLB, putting pro sports in Las Vegas is a dangerous venture.

you've missed it, the correct answer is san diego

I would have said Vegas, but after last years All-Star game I am going to rethink that.

What I think the NBA, more the Clippers should do have Sterling sell the team, move the team to Orange County. The Honda Center is nice facility and then you can really have a Lakers/Clippers rivialry.

As for expansion, I say no. The league is diluted enough.

+4 thumbs upFirst off, I will say Louisville. Louisville and Kentucky always draw very well, and Kentucky has some of the most knowledgeable fans.

I think that you need to look at where the cities are: the NBA will not give a team to San Jose or San Francisco because there is already two teams in northern California (Kings and Warriors). Same thing with San Diego and southern California (Clippers and Lakers).  There is no reason to add a forth Texas team so that takes El Paso and Austin out of the mix. There is no point in putting a second team in Tennessee, so no Nashville.

That bring it down to Columbus, Jacksonville, Louisville, and Las Vegas. Jacksonville is pretty easy to rule out, because it is not that big of a market, does not have an arena, and is somewhat close to Orlando and Atlanta. Columbus already has a team in the state (Cavs), and two others within range (Pistons and Pacers).  I would say Vegas, but the gambling, and the behavior during last year's all-star game gives the bid to Louisville. They are currently building a state of the art NBA-style arena for the Cardinals and as I previously mentioned, have great fans.

Other choices not listed:
Oklahoma City
Pittsburgh
Kansas City

+1 thumbs upSt. Louis would be a good one, too.  Hard to believe it's not one of the 10 largest cities without an NBA team.

Vagas has no pro teams in any sport. The potential would be huge. $$$$$

Yeah, the potential for an influx in crime.

+2 thumbs upGotta go for Vegas, just think, call them the Las Vegas Aliens...and if they can't play well, threaten to send the bad players for a scenic trip to area 51.
That, and UNLV would finally have a close place to send players.

+1 thumbs upGreat defense.  "There's already crime there, what's a little more?"

The NBA All-Star game blew up in everybody's face.  How about would it get with a team there permanently?  Not to mention an even closer proximity to the greasy professional gamblers who have a hell of a lot more power than people want to admit.

That's precisely why I don't think Las Vegas should ever be given a pro team, in ANY sport!  It's called Sin City for a reason, and I also believe people would be more apt to going to the casinos to bet on the games than pay for a ticket to watch it at the stadium/arena.

I'm assuming Vinton is in the sticks, as people on the Eastern side of VA claim all the DC teams.  Probably why pro teams haven't been considered.

+3 thumbs upHow long has it been since any of you have been here.  Las Vegas is more than the 3 miles of street known as "The Strip".  We have almost 2 million upstanding people who work just as hard as you do in just as legitimate businesses as your own.  Yes the NBA all-star game blew up, but it was not the locals which caused the problems, it was people (mostly from Southern Cali, by the way) who caused the problems.  It also was not the players that caused the problem, either.  So to assume if a team comes to Las Vegas the players would cause all sorts of problems is ridiculous.

Also, the professional gamblers may have some contact with the players, but there is no possible way for these gamblers to affect the game any more than gamblers do now.  When the whole Donaghy fiasco came down, IT WAS NOT LAS VEGAS GAMBLERS WHO HAD CORRUPTED DONAGHY! In fact, the red flags the FBI received came from the sports books in Las Vegas when they noticed a huge shift in the off-shore lines.  The books are so highly regulated and monitored, the risk of being caught is not worth the money a fixer would make.  Also, with the high salaries players make, why would a player risk everything for what a gambler would give him?  A gambler would not be able to pay the player enough.  I could go on, but simply put, get off your moral high horse commissioners and allow someone to invest in Las Vegas.

Tim Donaghy killed any chance of the NBA going to Vegas.  Cali and Texas cities can be ruled out.  Jacksonville can barely support the NFL.  Tennessee doesn't need another team.  Louisville and Columbus are college towns.  I think the next best one would be St. Louis as pointed out earlier in the thread.  That or Seattle in a few years when they get pissed after realizing they should be watching Kevin Durant in their town.

Albuquerque, New Mexico is a great basketball city that LOVES their Lobos. It has over 550,000 people, and I think an NBA team could be very successful there being the only gig in town.

Well.. i live in Kentucky, and i would love to have another team to root for. But, However, Kentucky is made of very biased people and i dont think alot of kentuckys college basketball fans would approve of an NBA team. But hey, you never know, it mite blow over pretty well. But hell, I doubt we ever will because our legislature cant even approve a freakin casino.

No other choice. How about Tampa? Instant rivalry between Tampa/Miami/Orlando/

If Vegas ever does get a team in the Pros, they need to be called the Las Vegas Point Spreads.
