Overwhelmed?
Lately on FanIQ I have been a little overwhelmed. There is so much to do, so much to see. I am all for a little competition, but with the rankings it seems like a little too much competition. I know I shouldn't care much about the rankings but I do. It just doesn't seem like I can chill on FanIQ like I used to. This comes as no offense to Ty and company. The site has come along way.

+10 thumbs upThis is a website built around sports...ie Competition...so bring it on!

I don't know if anyone will ever catch or surpass Scott (definitely not me)...but without competition, we wouldn't get the information we get (trivia, quizzes, expert links, etc)...at least not as many, I don't think.

+5 thumbs upLike theshrewdone said, the competition is what helps drive the site. The best way to move up in the rankings is to make more positive contributions to the site.

+1 thumbs upDid you used to win everything?  Notice, I am a relative newbie, so excuse the seemingly inane question...I do that a lot around here.

+3 thumbs upThere were some things I liked better in the old days, but as far as the site itself and some of the competition things (being able to see who's ahead and behind me in trivia, and some of the other stuff I know is coming) more than make up for those little things.

As far as being too far behind in points and stuff, yea Scott and Jon and Ryan and the like are the gods of the Q - I've long since decided not to try to compete with them

+4 thumbs upI noticed now, that if I get a few days behind, it takes some serious Qing to catch up, and that's just the locker room.  And yes, the site can be competitive, but isn't that what sports is all about?  And yeah, I do kinda miss the simplicity and clear cut site the Q used to be, but I'm glad to see it's grown to what it's become now.

+1 thumbs upOne thing we can't compete w/ is u being on all the issues.  It's fun to joke about them in retrospect, but I haven't had a prob in a long while and u were always there as soon as it happened, and until it was fixed.  Thanks Jess, ur a Q Goddess, as well!!

+1 thumbs upI'm so glad to hear that you haven't had a problem in a while - I know we still have glitches here and there but we try to take care of them quickly :)

Thanks so much for the compliment

I don't really worry about what ranking I am.  I know I'm in the top 25, but that's because I've always done my part to contribute since the day I joined.  I haven't changed the way I do things here, and I don't plan to.

+4 thumbs upPalehosefan was a legend in his day. There was a time when his FanIQ score seemed nearly unattainable. He had something like 7,000 points, when the 2nd place person had something like 4K. He not only took every poll on the site, he was also obscenely successful in his picks. He was a legend much like David W, who has over 1,000 recruits. In the beginning, FanIQ was powered by guys like Palehosefan and David W... and of course, Scott, who is still alive and kicking around here.

The only thing I can say is that it seems people without jobs have the advantage.  I spend a ton of time on here but still have to take 8 hours off to work 5 days a week and 4 hours to sleep at night.  I can't keep up with those who are on here more than that. Still it is fun to try and beat those who do have the extra time.

+1 thumbs upI can agree.  For everything there I miss, there's something new I like.  I normally find something new before I get the chance to read about it on the front page by stumbling over it.

I have NEVER once thought this site was about competing.  I enjoy the site for what it is, A WEBSITE!!!  Worrying about competing on here is borderline high school crap.  "Gee Timmy, do you think the cool kids will like us this year???"  Get over yourselves.

+1 thumbs upCompetition on the site is just celebrating the natural competition between sports fans...I don't think it has as much to do with the "cool kids" as it does proving knowledge and beating the "experts" more than anything...it's kind of fun to feel smart once in a while (even if those times are few and far between)
