PQ's are getting out of hand on FanIQ!!! (Edited 08/05/08 01:16AM by Jubanator14)
I have noticed a trend on FanIQ as of late... People are "PQing" other members comments for reasons other than the comment being of "Poor Quality" (I often refer to this action as "Drive-by PQing). Most of the PQ's are from members who merely just disagree with another members comments and I don't feel that is an appropriate reason to use the PQ option. I have seen numerous comment by other members that were very intellectual and insightful that were "PQed" into hiding and I think this is wrong. IMHO, I think a PQ should only be used for comments that are rude, offensive, prejudice, and or bigoted- NOT just because you disagree with them.   Let's see what you guys think!!! Please feel free to make comments and/or suggestions.

+7 thumbs upexactly!!!! And I feel it would stop those people from PQing a comment just because they disagree with it. Making a person explain their actions or reasons would stop the "Drive-by" PQers!

+18 thumbs upI think that there should be an "I Disagree" button, so people wouldn't PQ things that they shouldn't.

+7 thumbs upPeople are going to PQ just to do it. I think in every aspect of life you should have to answer for all your actions. If you PQ someone answer for your actions. Give a reason for the PQ........ There will always be someone who disagrees but I will be damned if I am PQed just because I said the Patriots suck.......... Just deal with it....

If you have the gonads to PQ, have the Gonads to tell why

+2 thumbs upPQ's are definately not used for the purpose they were originally intended... and most of the time it seems they are used as a joke anyway since most of the comments that are PQ'd are usually followed by someone laughing about PQ-ing it in the first place. guess it's just another way to have fun or strike up a conversation or a contest by seeing who can get the most.

Example: A yankees fan will PQ a Red Soxs comment saying David Ortiz is better than Jason Giambi just cause its against his team. I PQ when somebody says something really stupid or just lies about something obvious.

+10 thumbs upI think that if a person knows (through this site) who just gave them a smart, bold, or funny accolade- then they should also be able to know who gave them a PQ... It use to be like that for a second on the Q- but that stopped! Why? If you aren't man enough (or woman enough) to stand up for your use of the PQ- you shouldn't be allowed to use that option.

+6 thumbs upI understand what you are saying, but those two reasons that you just gave for using the PQ is not what the PQ option was intended for. It was intended to flag a comment that is clearly inappropriate and offensive and against FanIQ policies/rules so that the Moderators can take an action if needed. At least that is what I feel it was intended for...... Hence, why I think that PQ's are getting out of hand and not being used appropriately.

+3 thumbs upEven though PQing does get under my skin I'm not sure that a negative action would help.  An "I Disagree" button would help.  To PQ without explanation is a cowards way.  It's  like giving the bird (no I don't give the bird)  when a persons back is turned.  The worst scenario is giving a PQ just because you disagree with one's general philosophy of life.

+14 thumbs upI will often use "Bold" for comments that I either disagree with or think that they are "pushing" the PQ option.

Jason gets a lot of "Bolds"

+8 thumbs up#3 I don't think that they should have to tell you why they gave it to you, but I don't think that it should be anonymous.  Either that or it should be a flag for the mods to take care of, for instance it should be send like the "bugs" do.

+5 thumbs upI'm with you on this one...man up and claim your PQ against an individual or their comment.  Put a name against each PQ that is created.  We know we all do not share the same thoughts on every subject, but unless it's just so greviously rude and lascivious, then it would be deemed appropriate.
