+4 thumbs upI agree that he is human and just lost it in the heat of the moment but that doesn't get you off for free.  I'm surprised he hasn't been punished already.  Just Manny being Manny can only get him so far.

+8 thumbs upPunishments and rewards should be given out in degrees.  Punishment is meant to reduce or stop this kind of behavior.  If you wait until the third or fourth incident you have already reinforced  his behavior by not taking any action.  The severity of the action and the number of times it happens should govern the punishment. Take Manny's name out of the incident  and add any other name and see what you come up with.

+5 thumbs upAND, if the Red Sox or MLB doesn't do something about it then the secretary has every right and responsibility to take it to the civil court and file for damages both real and punitive...and Manny has DEEP pockets!!!

+3 thumbs upThe travling secretary of the Red Sox said he just wants to go forward and he forgave Manny Ramirez for what he did.

But....we all know during a week when the Red Sox are facing both Tampa Bay then the Yankees, a suspension to one of your top hitters is ridiculous.

Fine him heftly, but don't keep him from the line-up.

+2 thumbs upI guess I was speaking to the essence of the "Q-question" and not reality.  Of course the secretary relented, if he pressed the issue---no job!

Yes, Manny Ramirez should be punished and fined, for his attack, on a member of the Red Sox Front Office.

Just because Ramirez makes millions in his baseball contract, it doesn't give him the right, to commit an act of

battery.

Like I said, fining him heftly is a must, but suspending him, especially during a week when two division rivals are playing against you (Yankees-Rays) only makes the rest of your team suffer.

+1 thumbs upBut it's also ridiculous not to suspend him just because they are playing the Rays and Yankees. Is he bigger than the game??? I understand that suspending him would also be punishing his team in a way (without him playing in a couple of huge series'), but, in all honesty, he is the one punishing his team with his "Manny being Manny antics" as well. Too many "Superstars" go un-punished just because of their status and that is just sad.

+2 thumbs upI can't stand this guy and never could. Just because he is a great hitter and helps Boston win games all season, does that justify his idiot antics, and all his B.S. like the time he wanted to be traded, the guy has a screw loose, and if he stood at the plate watching his Home Runs like he does and I was pitching, he would get a fastball in his ribs next time around!
