Should NFL players be able to celebrate?
Celebrations. Some players celebrations are more exciting then others. where are the days where chad johnson tried to resusitate the ball? or unscrew the top of the ball and use it as a bottle. I realised how hardout the league was in superbowl 42. The pats had just scored and randy moss celebrated for a bit too long with a team mate. In the possibly biggest game of his career he is not allowed to enjoy the moment with his team mate. instead he recieves a 15-yard penalty. This is sad that the league would go so hardout

+15 thumbs upI like old time football when the rough and rugged Running Backs like Jim Brown, Larry Csonka and others would pound into the end zone and just drop the ball and celebrate with hugs or hig fives. No need to put on a stupid show, these players with all there antics are not the first to score a T.D., but Hell we have mini celebrations over a QB sack or tackle now. Sorry it don't impress me, I like classy and humble athletes.

+8 thumbs upAs long as it doesn't delay the game, and isn't offensive, I don't have a problem with it

Today's athletes are players and entertainers.  They are on their "stage" let them perform however they want.  I always like a good laugh!

+3 thumbs upIt kind of goes along with people rewarding meritocracy. I never understand the graduating from 4K kindergarten. You graduate from high school, you graduate from college. Not 4k or 5K. Likewise, I can understand the celebration of the scoring of a touchdown to clinch a division, a playoff game, or win a Super Bowl. Hitting the home-run to win NLCS, etc. Celebrating a TD scored in the 4th game of the season in a game where the score is 36 to 24, sporting more moves than all the contestants in a full season of "Dancing With The Stars" is a bit of overkill.

+4 thumbs upYou score the touchdown, you hand the ball to the ref, and you go back to the sidelines and do your job.  Yea, I know - real old school.

+4 thumbs upI don't mind the celebrating, as long as they aren't taunting the other team. Like someone posted earlier, act like you've been there before.

+2 thumbs upit depends. if the team is just running up the score and it is a guy like chad johnson, ladanian tomlinson, TO, etc. or a player that has been in the end zone a lot of times and it is just to blow the other team out even more, they should get the extra penalty. but (no matter if its a blow-out or not) if it is a guy who is coming off the bench, not a lot of playing time and gets a TD, the refs should be more lenient with that rule. also, if it is the SB, they should give a bit mroe celebration because it is possibly the biggest game of the players life and he made a mark in NFL history with that TD, he should be able to celebrate as long as it isnt offensive and doesnt delay the game

I don't think it can be okay for one player but not another...it has to be consistent.

+1 thumbs upthats also true. im just saying that in some cases, players (such as a palyers first touchdown) should have the rules bent a little bit because they have never experienced it before, as well as in the biggest game of the season, the SB

+2 thumbs upEnd Zone celebrations are a sign of immaturity. Billy "White Shoes" Johnson should have been the not only the 1st but also the last player to dance like an idiot after scoring a TD.

+1 thumbs upLT is a great example of being classy and humble.

As for guys like T.O., Chad Johnson, and Randy Moss, sometimes it's fun. Sometimes it goes overboard. Although T.O. is now a Cowboy, when he did that BS on the star, he got his ass drilled by George Teague.

Some celebrations are cool. Like the classic Lambeau Leap. But sometimes it goes too far and you just wish another George Teague would happen. Like when Randy Moss "mooned" the Packers crowd a few years back in the playoffs. Shoulda got his ass smeared by Favre.
