+9 thumbs upI'm going to throw Cliff Lee out there too.  He's 12-2 with a 2.31 ERA while playing for the lowly Indians.

Last year he was 5-8 with a 6.29 ERA.  This year he's starting the All-Star game.

+1 thumbs upIt was between Longoria and Volquez for me. Anytime a rookie comes in and contributes in such a huge way gets my vote (and obviously the votes of many others to make it to the all-star game his rookie year). As far as Volquez, he is pitching solid right now and I know he will have a steady career. I just really like this longoria kid better. The other guys listed, well, I feel what they are doing is exactly what is expected from them.

A first time All-Star who leads the MLB in RBI's, Hamilton has finally come into his own and shown that potential that everybody thought he had.   He's battled and apparently conquered personal demons and off the field issues that most thought would end his MLB career.  He's perserved and is the main reason why the Texas Rangers are 4 games over .500 and in 3rd place in the AL West at the All-Star Break.

I agree with Scott.  I don't know if he "perseved" or not but he has certainly perservered...lol, just have to gig you a little Scott.

When I saw the article on Josh in ESPN the Magazine he became one of my favorites in baseball!  What a great story and now he's showing he's no fluke!!!!

Oh, if I had to add an "Other"   it would be Kinsler of the Arizona Diamondbacks...he is rocking pitchers at will!

By far...the Cleveland Indians. :0(    Last year, they were the hottest team in the last two weeks of the 2007 MLB season.  Took care of the dreaded yankees, then, came within 1 Stinking win from going to the World Series.  :0(   This year...started off so-so.  As the months went by...half or their starters: Travis Hafner, Victor Martinez, Fausto Carmona and Jake Westbrook (Season ending-Tommy John Surgery-last month), went on the DL.   At the All-Star Break...in last place.     Recently went through a 10 game losing streak.

On a brighter note:  (thankfully) The Tribe won and took four straight (sweeping), from the Tampa Bay Rays (a much improved team).  As most of those responding to this MLB question....Cliff Lee.  He truly looks like he did (performance wise), back in 2005 (I think), winning 18 games.  Hopefully, after four days off, the Indians can get there act together and do better, in the 2nd half of the season.  Go Tribe!!!
