So what is your FISHING STORY?
So what is your FISHING STORY? Photo

Was it the one that got away?  I have a little story about my son Chris (10yr old).

Saturday evening, about 5:30 PM, my 10yr old wants to go fishing. Well I got to looking and I (MEANING MY 15yr old) had lost all my fishing gear, my rod, 15yr olds rod, both tackle boxes EVERYTHING.

So all we have is Chris’s (10yr olds) little, cheap, short rod and a few rusty hooks and old plastic worms. He wants to go, we live very near the lake so I had my girl take him up there so he could cast a few times and maybe learn a little something.  I baited up his rod and off he went, Bass fishing in a lake that is only really know for Brim.

Anyways, she takes him, he wont leave so she leaves him there, with one baby fishing pole, a rusty hook, and a CHEAP lil purple worm. She comes home to get some OFF, and returns, he has about a 4-6 pound Bass trying to drag him up on the shore.

Personally I cant tell you how much money I have spent trying to catch a Bass that big from that lake. Leave it to a 10 yr old with nothing but a dream to Get it Done!!

Anyways, just thought I would share,  I know everyone has cool fishing stories, lets hear them!!

My sister and I were out on the lake fishing at Ross Lake.  It was starting to get late (dark) so my dad radio'd us from the cabins (we had Motorola 2-way radios with a 5 mile range on them) to tell us we should start coming in cuz it would be dark in 20 minutes and we didn't have a light on our boat.  He asked where we were and I replied "Lightning Creek" which is 12 miles away from cabins and about a 45 minute boat ride (slow kicker boats is all we had).  He yelled, "WTH are you doing way up there, get your A$$ in now!  How many fish do you have?"... I replied with "We have 5 in the boat" and the limit on the lake is 3/person.  Well the fishing that year sucked at Ross Lake, so he replied "You have 5 in the boat!?!?  Well your ass better stay out there until you have 6!!!!"  In reality, Valerie and I were skunked... nothing in the boat.  We were also actually right around the point from the cabins (about a 5 minute boat ride), so we decided we would try to catch 5 fish in 15 minutes after being skunked after 7 hours of fishing.  We dropped our lines and then started trying to come up with ideas of what we would lie to our Dad about for not bringing in 5 fish.  We came up with a lot of them, but when we did decide to go in to the cabins, we were overwhelmed with the fact that like 15 people were waiting for us to SEE our fish!  lol..... We just ended up saying that we were kidding... my Dad's best friend was there and said, "You are a couple of B*tches!" and we replied with.... "We are our Father's daughters!".... which makes sense if you know my Dad.  =)  Oh good times, good times!

+5 thumbs upMy husband had taken our son, Matt  (age 10 at that time) down to a friends place on the Warrior River in Alabama. Matt was just learning how to fish and had not gotten the hang of it. After about 30 minutes, Matt's sinker started bobbing and he jerked the line. All he came out with were the lips off the fish.  Now that he is nearly 29, married and has a child on the way...I cannot wait for him to take his little girl/boy fishing and come home with a "Big Fish Story".

+6 thumbs upi grew up in alaska.  we fished for trout, salmon, halibut, flounder.  my dad is extreme and only fishes in a 14 ft aluminum boat.  when we salt water fish he likes to go out before high tide and fish for salmon, then fish for halibut during low tide, then go back to fishing for salmon during the high tide.  it makes for a long day.  one time we were out during this storm in seward, alaska during the silver salmon derby.  we were the only people out there.  we waited too long to get back to shore and dang near sunk.  the breakers we so big for landing on the beach, we had to gun it to clear them and rode a wave like we were surfing.  of course we were out the next day doing the same damn thing.

+3 thumbs upI don't fish. I don't eat fish. I don't like fish. In my humble opinion, if God had wanted us to eat fish he would NOT have placed them in the BOTTOM of the ocean, lake, river or stream !!!  LOL !!!  But, thanks for the Poll !!!

+4 thumbs upI love fishing, and have a million stories, all of which are true!!!!!!

So this one time(Aug. '91),  me, my new girlfriend, and some other friends go tubing on the Big Thompson River, just outside of Loveland, CO. We end up almost getting a ticket for not using double reinforced tubes, but the Ranger guy just gives us a warning. We get off the river, and go to a place where the river is right next to the road, perfect for laying out. I had fished there at least 10 times in the past, and had caught like one tiny Rainbow. Some guy is fly fishing while we are hanging out catching rays and drinking a couple beers. The guy leaves, and I have a fishing pole in my trunk. Catch a grasshopper, and since I'm already wet, I wade into where the guy had been fishing. First cast......tap, tap, boom. I've got one, and it seems pretty good. The fish runs down stream, and my line is caught on a submerged tree limb. There is no way I'm gonna lose this fish. So I dive in the river, and am reeling underwater, keeping my line tight. My friends are freaking out, but I caught a 4 lb, 22" Brown trout. True story, and an awesome day.
