Sport or Not a Sport!

With the Olyimpics going now, I began to think about the different events that will be contended and began thinking about what is and is not a true "sport". To me, a sport can not have the winner "Picked" or "Judged" by opinion. There has to be a clear cut scoring format, not "she did that flip better then the other girl did" sort of bull! So you tell me, are the following Sports or Not Sports?

#5 \| 104 days ago Big_Country78 (+)	+16 if a judge(s) decided who the winner is then it is NOT a sport. if the athletes win based on thier merit in the competition, and its not based on a descision then it IS a sport. i realize at times boxing is a sport, and at other times is not based on this definition, but its how i feel. 1. I think, for the most part, that the Olympics are a bore. I will watch certain events (like yesterdays kick-butt on the Chinese B-Ball game) but I skip most of it. I would have to say that I am more of a fan of the Winter Olympics!! It's a lot more exciting! 1. Not really, It's athletic, but so are alot of things 2. We could have a real debate as to whether some women/men are good looking or coyotes. We will have to accept what somebody deems as a sport. 1. Yes, Thats defianatly a sport! 2. #13 \| 104 days ago palehosefan (+)	+3 For me, the outcome of a sporting event must be based on an objective measure -- i.e., points/goals scored, elapsed time, distance traversed (e.g., long-jump, high jump, shot put, discus, etc.). Anything decided based on a judge's subjective determination of good vs. bad is not a sport. That is, things like figure skating, diving, gymnastics, etc. are no more sports than is the Westminster Dog Show. 1. No, That's not a sport! 2. No, That's not a sport! 3. No, That's not a sport! 4.
