+8 thumbs upYou really think he sucked at songwriting?

He wrote All Along the Watchtower, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Highway 61, Mr. Tambourine Man, and Quinn the Eskimo.
All songs that were huge hits for other people.

i couldnt really think of a vocalist other than what was listed, but a mix of perry, plant, and mercury i think would be pretty awesome.

+1 thumbs upYou couldn't combine these people.  They were great because of who they were with.  They sounded good with that group.  Combining them would make most likely nothing worth while.

+1 thumbs upI disgree i think mixing two music legends (like Flea and BB King) who have completly different styles, I think it would be really good.

+1 thumbs uplook, I'm not saying I wouldn't love to listen to see how it turns out, but I've listened to "supergroups" before...and they've never seemed to click.  Granted, none were of these combinations...it would be interesting...but i will believe if/when I hear...until then...it's a no.

You might be the closest, though...either BB or stevie ray with flea...add queen or journey...could be good.

I went w/ my favs of them, 2 being Tommy Lee, also.  Still, I think some would go together better w/ certain others, but would still make for kick @$$ bands.  Really tough.

Yep.  No one could understand crap that he said or sang, but when he put it in writing, he was great.

Even the Guinness brothers read his music and said "Brilliant!!"

+1 thumbs up1.  Seriously - Hendrix > all
2.  No matter what this supergroup threw at him - he could keep up!
3.  JPJ played more than bass, and would definitely fill out the band wherever else he was needed (keyboards, etc.)
4.  A couple of these guys' voices grind on my nerves (Dylan's uhUH uhUH uhUH style makes me angry too), so Plant is a toss-up pick for me
1. Jimi Hendrix  2. Keith Moon (The Who)  3. John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin)  4. Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)

Love the poll !!     We used to have this same discussion....usually around 4 AM after a night of heavy, er, 'excercising' !!

Obviously it depends on what type of songs you'd be playing, but this topic could be discussed/debated for a long time !

1. Eric Clapton  2. John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)  3. Paul McCartney (The Beatles)  4. Freddie Mercury (Queen)

Since I'm a fan of ridiculously huge supergroups, here's my lineup:

GUITAR: Hendrix, Gilmour, Page, myself on rhythm (like I'm passing up jamming with these guys); BASS: Flea, Claypool, Jones (can also cover keyboards), Geddy Lee (ditto); DRUMS: Bonham, Peart, ?uestlove; VOX: Plant, Otis Redding, Tori Amos, Black Thought, Nas; DJ/SAMPLES: Kanye West, Babu (Dilated Peoples, Beat Ju
