The Little Things In Life
Tuesday evening I spent a night in the ER because I was having chest pain and some shortness of breath. We all know how miserable it can be waiting around in an ER for countless hours, and while they still aren't sure what's up with me, I finally left, at 2 AM in the morning, with a battery of outpatient tests that are to be done in the near future.

The next day , I was pretty dang cranky from lack of sleep, and just the general annoyance of it all, and still feeling crappy. I was waiting for the bus at 7:30 am, the stop being directly across from the beach, and the sun was rising and it was amazing. Then , this couple came jogging by me, and stopped right in front of me,jogging in place, and smiled, and said good morning, and wished me a good day.

That turned my whole day around, and reminded me just how blessed I really am.

My Question: What is one of the little things in your life you take for granted, that has the capability to turn a bad day into a good one?

Whatever you do........never ever ever take your hearing for granted. I know it's easy to do so, but when it's gone you know how big of a  deal it is when it seems so small. Take it from me i know.

My health and family, no matter how much I forget or violate with desserts, I'm always thankful for it.

Good to hear that you are recuperating well Andi

I'm not commenting because all the thumbs up I'm going to receive are basically going to be meaningless in the next little while...

Long back during my college days, I was returning from swimming pool when I saw a  puppy being attacked by crows. I hushed up crows and just gave bit  of caring to that puppy. The sweet licking and waving tail of that puppy made my day during those hard days of examinations.

My kids at home
knowing I have  a loving wife (even if sex aint the same as love always)
making a yellow light
laying in a bed with sheets straight from the dryer
reminiscing a great moment with a lost loved one
getting a peek of cleavage from a hot waitress at the coffe shop
going fishing with one of my boys
holding hands with my youngest, as he falls asleep in my lap
I could go on and on. Some of these simple things, you don't always appreciate unless you miss them

*Hope you're feeling better today*

ANDI !  I hope everything is okay with you!  Take care of yourself, and stay away from the light!   Hugs!

Every day is a gift, waking up first in the morning and greeting my boys as they wake one by one is the highlight of my day.  Sometimes I want to sleep a little longer but getting up is such a reward.

You're in my prayers AndiLee.

I am glad to hear your feeling a little better and will keep you in my prayers during your testing period.

The thing that can make me feel better that I take for granted is my father. He has Alzheimer's! Everyday when I visit he says "where the hell you been." I dread the day when I walk in and he does not say this. As bad as things are for him, he never complains. He has a way of humbling me when I walk in and he smiles at me.

I love laying in bed with my daughter, sharing her day, reasurring her, laughing with her, tickling her, and being BFFs for that moment in time.  I wouldn't trade places for any thing or any one in the whole entire world!!

Thanks guys I am not dying or anything ( at least I dont think so, LOL) just concerned. I was born with a hole in my heart that was repaired totally when I was 8, so , when I am not feeling real hot, I have to take it seriously. Thanks for all your thoughts.

What I really like though, is seeing all the answers to the question! Robb made me tears up laugh, and say ahhhhhhhhh all in one answer, that was great, a trifecta!

Just trying to make everyone remember that when we are pissed off at the world,or the Q, etc, there are really some things, little as they may be, that really are more important, when we take the one minute to remember them!

Every day that I wake up is a gift. I have a very special friend that just hearing from them and knowing that they care puts a smile on my face every day when I see a message from my friend. Thoughts and prayers are with you Andi....tests aren't bad, it's the waiting for the results. Get well soon my friend.

Oh, now you've gone and ruined her day.

She only said a "simple" good morning. The extra greetings made it so complicated

Working in a hospital, I realize daily how lucky I am to be able to walk, talk, and *knock on wood* be completely healthy.  I transport so many patients who can't even stand up and in some cases are completely bedridden and can't move a muscle.  You don't think about it until you see first hand that all the things you take for granted could be gone in the blink of an eye.

Going insane because of my 4-yr-old's behavior is something I take for granted sometimes.... and this morning I realized how incredibly lucky I am to have two healthy, albeit SPIRITED daughters...

A few miles away from me, a little girl disappeared earlier this week. I'm sure most of you may have heard about it.... But if not, yesterday her body was found at a land fill. She was 7 years old.

I don't want to go through anymore details because it is heartbreaking... But I do know that every day that my daughter misbehaves is one more day I get to spend with her. I am blessed in so many ways!

I have to say the older I get and then going through a divorce over the past year, the most simple things are what I am learning to appreciate.

Playing Rummy 500 or UNO with my daughter
Watching my son's soccer games
taking pictures with my 17 yo at homecoming......

Sitting on the beach watching the sun come up.....

What can make my day, any day is a friendly smile and a simple hello!

Cos you have enough on your plate, and in actuality , I am fine, so why worry you? Wont know anything for another week or so. I didnt do this poll cos of my health, I did it cos I sometimes forget to be grateful for the little things, or in the case of my friends, the most important ones!
