+3 thumbs upSuch a rich history. I cant really choose one. They have so many legends. Rocket Ishamil was a great player, Rice was. Zorich. I can keep going on and on. I mean 7 heismans. Also Alan Page and Curly Lambeau were Irish. Not too mention they have produced 10 players in the  NFL HOF, and 48 in the college HOF.

+2 thumbs upCant forget about Johnny Lattner, Ross Browner, Leon Hart, George Conner, and John Lujack. Now with those names we are going way back, but they are deserving so of the title greatest Notre Dame player.

You know whats funny, I think Joe was the best. Never winning the Heisman or anything special, well with the exception of a 1977 Championship when they beat Texas who was ranked #1 in the country and Notre Dame was #5. After that game Notre Dame was propelled into the #1 spot

The main reason Joe wasn't a superstar at Notre Dame is because he didn't have to be ... he was surrounded by talent.  He was soaking up the legend status, so when it came time for him to prove his worth ... he made the Domers proud!

That is why this poll question NEEDED to be asked!  Non Irish fans need to know that there REALLY ARE faces behind ALL those legendary names.  They need to understand WHY AMERICA'S college TEAM resides under the Golden Dome, and bows at the feet of Touchdown Jesus.

LONG LIVE THE LEGACY

LONG LIVE THE LEGENDS

LONG LIVE NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL

+2 thumbs upI am not a Irish fan at all, but I truly respect what they have done in the past. Having a good Irish team is good for College football just like having a good USC and Alabama teams. I am waiting for the day when both USC and ND's game will mean more than it does right now. Like Natl championship ramifications

+1 thumbs upNotre Dame is not what it used to be. I think the Buckeyes put the final nail in the coffin on Jan 2, 2006 when they spank that ass in the fiesta bowl.
