The train is going how fast?
Well, it is getting close. The kids are almost be back in school, the teachers are almost ready to give you, er, your kids their homework assignments. Have you had to attend school two and three times since your kids started going to school? I mean how many hours do you put in on a science project, only to look up and see your kids (whose project it IS) watching Spongebob Squarepants? Then there's the 'if two trains leave the same place in opposite directions going 100 mph and 59 mph respectively, for 4 hours and 7 hours respectively' math problems you have to figure out. Do you or your child do the homework?

But yeah...I'll help a bit...try to rephrase the question so they can better understand...but sometimes even that can take an hour!

+3 thumbs upI have done my fair share of HW, but I have no kids so I don't have to worry about these things...and if it ever comes to helping kids with MATH, I'll just out-source!

I'm a former Associate Professor of Communication Theory and taught at the college level for 20 years before illness forced me to retire...my 21 year old son is returning to college after touring with a band for 18 months and I will help him if he likes.  However, the only help I can give him is when there is NO math involved; I am a wordsmith and I suck at math!!!

I had to take two Statistics Courses while working on my Doctorate and that was a real treat (sic).

+3 thumbs upactually, I helped where I could, but we do have an accountant in the family who can help with math, a computer science major who can help with those pesky computer issues,  a newspaper editor in the family that can take care of the English issues, and my parents go to church with a Spanish teacher and a science teacher ... I got out of my kids' homework pretty easy. Now that they are both in college though... I may have to go back just to be able to help!

Ohhhhhhhh,,,, I got so lucky with my oldest.  She is a BRAINIAC!!!!  She loves to learn and has received the academic award every year so far for her grade.  Learning comes easy to her, probably because she likes to.  I haven't had to help her at all and she usually finishes her homework within a few minutes.  If for some reason she forgets to do it (usually on hockey game nights), she gets very upset and has even cried on the way to school if she didn't finish her homework.  For a book report last school year, they had to do a book report on an auto-biography their choice.  She chose "Mario Lemieux"!!!  She is a hockey nut.  Did a great book report too on him.

Then my 2nd daughter, school is only a social aspect for her... so I'm hoping that since she is only one grade behind my brainy kid, the oldest can help her a bit.

Haven't decided if my 2 yr old will be good in school yet... I do know if it involved any kind of dancing, he would be King!

+4 thumbs upHA HA HA HA HA!!!---------------NO,   but really-----you all who are parents may be forced to "help" do the work, but it is the teacher who checks and grades it. I never give anything, I would hate grading for homework. Do you all realize how hard it is to grade a parent's/child's work?

+3 thumbs upMy daughter is going into her third year of teaching the fourth grade. I see the sacrifices made; I believe teaching is more of a calling than an occupation. You folks rock.  :-)

Ugh.  You're just like my step-Dad!!!

They'll thank you for it later, if they don't appreciate it now.
