This card is actually a load of interesting match ups
purely fight wise i'd say the main event is most likely to be the most boring actually
forrest griffin vs tito ortiz is an amazing match up, there basically opposites on the ground and standing, griffins jiu jitsu and ortiz's wrestling, forrest strikes generally in straight forward long 'punches n bunches' combos where as tito ortiz is a big hitter
should be a really great fight
cant wait to see jon fitch in action again, and almeida is a slick fighter so that one will be a close battle for sure
i cant wait to see karo parisyan get whooped also

sadollah's match is basically a give away for sadollah, if he doesnt beat an old phil baroni well then...maybe TUF 7 was just a fluke

ben saunders vs marcus davis should be an awesome war of strikers, rosholt is a great new guy vs kendall grove who is a solid vet, that should be a solid match

and george sotiropolous is always fun to watch and jason dent is tough dude who wont make it easy for sure
Carwin vs lesnar will either be a great fight if carwin KO's lesnar or just another quick finished GNP victory for Brock, it should show whether he is truly a dominant champion here to stay or (as i believe) frank mir is just over rated
this card may just surprise you for how interesting it is

IDK .... Sotiropoulos had a fantastic fight @ 101. But I'll tell you the truth; If Carwin pulls it off, & all my other picks go down the tube it will still be a good night for me!

I think the best fight on this card would have to be between Marcus Davis vs Ben Saunders. Their both good strikers but I think Marcus can pull it off. Tito vs Forrest with also be a good fight with most of the match being on the ground most likely. Shane Carwins got 1 shot KO power and who knows how good Brock's chin is. Amir sadollah will win in the first round by sub. As for Karo I think after he loses this fight he will be out of the UFC. Kendall Grove will get KOed with that glass chin of his by Jake Rosholt.

Excellent card. I like Parisian though. He has better standup and his ground control is sick. Hazlett really that BJJ if he is gonna pull it out. I'm picking Carwin because his size, speed, and wrestling ability are good enough to cancel out Brock. Carwin's KO ability is gonna bring him the win. Who knows how good Tito is now a days but I like Forrest by submission. All and all a very exciting card. Can't wait.

I didn't know Forrest Griffin replaced Mark Coleman. Now I'm not sure about my decision to pick Tito to get a victory.

When the poll was made it was Forrest Griffin, I didn't change or edit the poll,
I will have to edit the spelling of his name however...

i just want to see this pay per view.doesn't matter whoever wins, it would be a historical event. just add anderson silva vs. chuck liddell.

this is a great card but speaking purely from a standpoint on who is fighting it is a long way to go to be a 'historical event'
and anderson silva vs chuck liddel???
why?? you just finish watching the chuck liddel special on spike and think he's unbeatable, never heard of any other fighters besides brock, anderson and chuck??
seriously check chuck's record, i always think a fighter should keep fighting if he still loves the sport but preferably against guys who won't give him moderate/severe brain damage every fight

Anything is historical once it's in the past........ historic on the other hand......

any mma fan would watch that fight card, and that is what would make it historic.and monumental.

therefore: any and all mma cards are historic and monumental and by definition then become mediocre
reconsider your logic.

not all i am talking about this one, as much as i hate to say it usually pretty much the only fight i want to see is the main event, the under cards not so much. if you took the poll then you've scene the card i'm talking about.... some fights suck, and some are for the record books . i.e. chuck liddell vs. tito ortiz.

heck the upcoming pay per view is probably one we will forget , except the somewhat interesting main event, and that's only if your into brock lesner.

#17 | 31 days ago

so...lemme get this straight...you claim this card is historic and monumental...and now you say its forgettable except brock lesnar
...this is probably because you just got into mma and don't know a whole lot of background..you watch the main card stuff so you get all pumped up for the main events
i suggest you try learning some of what they are actually doing...personally i very rarely find the main card more interesting than the undercards...theres almost always a great fight in the undercards but main events rarely live up to their reputations
as for people....amir sadollah, forrest griffin, jon fitch, marcus davis, karo parisyan, kendall grove- these are all top dudes who have fought in main events before..well not sadollah but hes a TUF kid who i had very high hopes for before larry landless and hendricks took them away but i digress
the main point is, cards are generally historic for one of two reasons..the meeting of two undefeated, two champions or just for an incredible fight in the octagon although most people pay attention to the second one or they watch these PPV pump-ups on spike and think the contender is gonna put up some incredible crazy fight like rocky vs apollo creed
even when someone with a bit of knowledge could tell you that, that fight would be one sided or boring i.e. frank mir vs brock lesnar 2 (anyone with some technical knowledge or hell even without it could see frank mir was getting whooped and that brock just got a bit too ahead of himself, and could tell you he wouldn't make that mistake again)

With Lesnar withdrawing from his fight with Carwin the main event has been changed to Ortiz vs. Griffin...the Carwin/Lesnar fight will be scored as a draw...all other entries and tie-breaker remain the same..

yes brett rogers, big nog, cheick congo might have a chance (we'll see how he does against mir, alistair overeem (not my personal favorite as a contender but he seems to always make bank in the rankings) junior dos santos is doing well and could bloom into a contender and mike russow is a possible prospect in the future
plus: i've never given up on good ol randy

believe it or not, tito ortiz isn't that bad a guy, as strange as this may sound talking shit is part of his strategy, he uses it as a tool to get into his opponents heads: most fighters fight at their best when they put their emotions asidel, tito is not like most fighters, he tries to bring in emotion because it helps him, he fights at his best when all emotions are running hot in the cage
he is actually friends with most of the people he talked a ton of crap about and worked with many of them in training camps later on

I believe the Carwin vs Lesnar fight has been postponed.  Pushed to January and now maybe even later.  Due to illness on Lesnar's part.  So, we will have  to wait it seems..A~

are you freaking kidding me?? everybody hates him.ive seen him quit or coast through so many fights.maybe his talking and bragging got into the head of ken shamrock.but how hard is that.other than shamrock who has he won against? yeah yeah i know he won that decision against griffin but that fight was close.im not even saying i hate the guy.what im saying is that he is a second tier fighter.the reason he gets top billing is because people want to see what he'll say,and if whoever he said it about will beat the crap out of him.

check his record, he's beaten some top guys
and everyone doesn't hate him (i assume your referring to other fighters there) i've seen him quit, only once vs randy couture and i've never seen him coast, intensity is his game if nothing else
i wouldn't say he gets top billing because of his trash talk but it may substantiate some of it, but he did win a lot of fights, beating vitor belfort, patrick cote, the previously mentioned forrest griffin, ken shamrock, wanderlei silva and guy mezger
not a half bad list of wins, he did more than trash talk to get those

not at all, i'm just pointing out he's not some terrible fighter who just runs his mouth off about being the best

i've met him but i hardly base any of this on the few seconds i was at the front of a line; most of this information actually comes from randy couture's and liddel's books which go more in depth on training camps and other fighters behind the scenes then what you'll see on spike TV. Randy actually changed his gameplan to include some pre-fight trash talk jabs in order to try and reverse tito's regular use of emotion and anger to get inside his opponents head and after the two fought tito came and trained at team quest (and there was no drama or issues)

Tito is the longest holder of the light heavyweight belt in the history of the UFC. That's why eveyone gives him props although Forrest will avenge his first loss.
