+1 thumbs upthis is always a tough one, there are always surprise teams. i say chicago only because of their youth and offensive talent

+1 thumbs up

I had to go with the Blackhawks. They put up a nice run toward the end of the year. Having that momentum has shown in the past to be a good sign. Whether Khabibulin or Crawford is starting next season the goaltending should be in a good situation. The defense is finally shapng out. I think they will add what Dale Tallon calls the QB of the defense maybe a Wade Redden(No guarntees). Barker, Seabrook, Wisniewski, Keith, and Hjalmarsson really show good progress when they were playing. Toews and Ken have gained chemistry with Sharp and that line seems solid. The youth will keep coming look out for guys on the rise for them like Brouwer, Davis, Bolland, Skille, Blunden, and the rest of their young talented prospects.

I would also look out a for Carolina and Buffalo.

+1 thumbs upEdmonton was on fire down the stretch.  Playing in a tougher division and still putting up all those points, I like the Oilers over the Hawks next year.  Khabibulin seems washed up too.

yeah i'm slighty biased here, but they screwed themselves out of the playoffs this year, but also had a bunch of injuries to key players, and played with a lot of AHL talent.  of course it all depends if karmanos and rutherford can limit the amount of damage they do in the offseason.

Total homer pick and gigantic wish, but can still be a possibility if the D gets better. Hard to name a team on the list with a more talented group of young forwards.

FYI-- 2nd to last place Kings, had very nice series against both the Oilers and Black hawks. I specifically remember a New YEar's Day route (9-2).

It should be Vancouver. They were heavy in the Northeastern Conference this season and just fell short. They almost always follow up a bad year with a great one. Oh and GO WILD!

By the way, OVERTIME LOSSES ARE DUMB! I understand Shootout losses being worth a point, but if Overtime losses are worth a Point, Wins should be worth 3

sorry, but i want to go with the leafs.. i know people will hate me for this but i think that laefs will sign wilson as head coach, then find a suitable gm, get a good free agent ( unlike blake ) and if toskala is in top form, they should have no problem winning. The Oil are my second favourite because of their young players....they could end up around 5th in the west if they stay consistent

If Toskala is in top form?? More times than not last season, Toskala looked like a lock for the WORST goalie in the NHL. You're not really serious are you?

Can't believe I'm the only one who thinks a top two lines headed by LeCavalier and Stamkos will compete with any team in the league

+1 thumbs upBut what about goal tending and D? That's what happens when teams end up at the bottom of the standings.
