What team do you just plain hate?
It's ingrained in all of us.  We all have our favorite teams in our favorite respective sports.  Likewise we all have a team that just hearing the name makes us cringe.  Whether its a pro team, a college team, a NASCAR driver, we all have one or two that we just cannot stand.  Who is your mortal enemy in sports?  I'll name my three and put in some "other" tabs for you guys and gals.  Who do you hate and why?

The Yankees:  I am a Baltimore Oriole fan.  As such, the Yankees are my mortal enemy.  Maybe I am just being a "hater", but I have good reason.  They always beat us..  They always have..  And they're the Yankees..  I hate that they always win.  Somewhat childish, I know, but I don't care.  It's my own opinion and no one can tell me otherwise.

Duke:  I am a Maryland fan.  As such, Duke is my mortal enemy.  I get no greater pleaser in life than when the Terps whoop up on the Dookies.  I get sick of hearing Duke (Dick) Vitale lavish all of his compliments, and awards, and his predictions, and his praise on the Blue Devils.  My skin is crawling even just devoting this much to this team that I dislike so much.  It's Duke..  That should be enough of a reason.

Kyle Busch:  I don't even know why I don't like him as much as I don't like him.  I just don't like him.  Period.

Packers, Colts, Pacers, White Sox ( Not the team, just some fans not all), Patriots, Red Sox (they are getting cocky with 2 rings), Lakers, Spurs, Pistons (can't forgive for walking off and not shaking hands after the Bulls beat them.), I don't really hate these team, I just love to see them lose.

That's OK...I understand.  You're still bitter because not only did they not have a perfect season, they lost the Super Bowl to the Giants.    Now who's overrated....

+1 thumbs upJokes are only funny the first 2,617 times they're used. After that, they lose some of the appeal.

And the Patriots weren't overrated. Up until that game, they hadn't lost a single one. And people were "rating" them as if... well... as if they hadn't lost a single game. Kinda makes sense, when you think about it.

+5 thumbs upYes but then the question becomes..  Did they cheat?  I'm sure you say no.  And I don't hate the Pats..  But did they win as much as they did because they had some kind of inside knowledge gained by means that were against the rules?  As a football fan, not a Patriot fan, do you think what they did was wrong?  In asking this, I am not taking away from the dominance that they have showed over the last few years.  Their defense has been ridiculous, and they may....  MAY..  have the best quarterback to ever play the game..  MAY!  I said may, as in might, maybe.  Obviously their coach is as good as they come.  But I have to ask myself..  How much, if any, help did they get from those tapes?  How much did it help?  Any?  Alot?  None?  What about the players on Injured Reserve that participated in practice?  More so the younger players and rookies who were able to maybe lower their learning curve by participating..  Again..  I don't now..  But I do wonder..

New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Detriot Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Vikings, Duke, Oklahoma, Florida St.... I could probably go on for a while.  Some teams, particularily college teams, change from time to time for me.  I was a big fan of Reggie Bush so I liked his USC teams, but I'm kind of sick of them, mostly because John David Booty was an overrated douche.

+2 thumbs upAnd then the question becomes, how many other teams did the same thing, and didn't get caught? If you want to play hypothetical question games, we could do this all day. But the bottom line is, they won 17 games in a row without anyone finding any evidence that they cheated (after the Jets game). And that was when they were scrutinized more than ever.

And you bring up an excellent point. We don't know how much those tapes helped out... if at all.

I'm not throwing stones at you.  You are obviously a fan of the Patriots.  I'm all for anyone who roots for their team and is die hard about it.  So this is not a jab.  I think it begs the questions that have been asked.  I also explained that I think the Patriots are a superior team.  We don't know who else did this.  But we all know who got caught.  Even if it was because they got snitched on.  They are the team winning the most so they are the ones who people can scrutinize the easiest.  But one more question I will ask.  If they are so superior, and they do have the best team, with the best coaching staff...  Why did they do it in the first place?  Especially if they knew it was against the rules?

Honestly, I don't know. And that's what bothers me the most as a fan. As much as I appreciate the success they have had, it would have been nice to know that they could have done it without the controversy.

I hear that.  The less controversy in sports the better.  Especially when it concerns the team we root for.
