My point was simply that the Mets thought they were acquiring a stud in Alomar, similar to what is happening now with Santana.  And don't get it twisted, I think Santana is going to be huge for the Mets this season (see my answer to this poll) for many reasons, one of which you pointed out (the pitcher friendly ballpark).  But the possibility of a flop still exists, that's all.
+3 thumbs upNow thats putting it perfect I agree with that, but to degrade Robbies career on where he played was just WRONG, whoever made that statement.

+2 thumbs upSo glad the Mets got Johan. It will be great to see him fall apart as a Met. Even if he doesn't we will see him much less so its all good. A-Rod staying with the Yanks was HUGE!

+2 thumbs upI'm also glad Santana went to the Mets and the Yankees got to keep all of their good young players and the Twins were the losers in the trade. I don't know if he will fall apart, but last year he won a few but didn't think he looked that great against the better teams.

Crap I clicked the wrong choice.  I meant to hit the Santana trade.  It should be a no brainer, one of the top pitchers in the game going to a team that fell apart last year?  That's far and away the most obvious answer.

+1 thumbs upI don't know, the Mets trading Guillermo Mota was probably just as big as them getting Santana. Mota killed the Mets everytime he pitched.

+1 thumbs upMiguel Cabrera to the Tigers when the whole lineup is all-star caliber??  Dontrelle Willis possibly pitching 4th in the rotation?  This is the biggest trade.  Johan Santana is only one guy, and can only help every 5th game.

+1 thumbs upAnd Dontrelle is a pitcher who struggled heavily at times in the power strapped NL. You really think he will be effective against guys like Ortiz, Rodriguez, Hafner and the like?

I'm not saying Dontrelle is gonna have an all-star caliber season -- in fact, I think he's lost a little bit from his game -- but if he can pitch at least average this year, I think that offense can kinda carry him.  Let's face it, he wasn't exactly getting a lot of help with the Marlins (he was usually their best hitter, lol).

But, ultimately I think Cabrera helps this already all-star offense, and his presence mixed with the addition of Willis isn't a bad thing for the Tigers.  I'm really just being objective here, because honestly I'm not an American League kinda guy.

There is no doubt in my mind that the best move by far this off-season has been the Mets acquiring the best pitcher in baseball: JOHAN SANTANA, one of the best moves in franchise history!!!! PERIOD!!!!

You have only seen the results of the deal on paper, so calling it the best in franchise history is pushing it a little. IMO there is an argument for it not even being the biggest move this offseason.
