Whats more important to you, keeping the Wrigley Field name, or Winning a World Series

The hot botton debate in Chicago right ow is whether or not the Tribune Company should be allowed to sell naming rights to Wrigley Field. My question is simple, as a Cubs fan would you rather continue to watch sub par baseball at broken down Wrigley Field or possibly see a World Series banner flying over a newly remolded Harris Bank Park or other corporate sponsor name.

Now before everyone gets upset because the Cubs made the playoffs last year and are looking even better this year, please understand I am purely looking at things from a financial stand point.  A name change brings in a boat load of cash for upgrades and free agency.

+1 thumbs upIf I was a Cubs fan, I might see it differently.  But as a baseball fan, it would feel weird if there were no Wrigley Field.

I could care less, but thats probably because Wrigley Field has never meant anything to me.  I'm almost certain that this will end with a group of filthy rich Cubs fans who will together buy the naming rights and keep it Wrigley Field.

You are missing one important thing, is the money from selling naming rights going to go to free agency, the answer to that question in no! The money that comes in from naming rights is going to go to the owners of the stadium (Illinois Sports Facalities Authority) and Sam Zell. The new owner(s) of the Cubs will not see a dime of that money. If it was me, I would get out of Wrigley and build a new Stadium in another loation where you can actually drive there in a resonable time and actually find a reasonable ($$) place to park.

I'm a Mets fan, and I could not care less that Shea Stadim will be torn down and Citi Field will take its place.  I would rather have a World Series than an outdated park.
