I used to watch Halloween when i was young, and it always scared me.  So to ME personally, its the original Haloween.

I picked Nightmare On Elm Street from the list. But the one that scared me the most was HELLRAISER all those chains coming out of his skin, and whatever your vise was that is what you become after your dead.

Just make sure that you turn off all the lights and that no street lights are washing in from outside.

Play it quieter than normal so that you strain to hear and also hear every other sound in your house. It works

Jaws. I couldn't even have a bath bymyself after seeing that. I also think The Excorist was very well done and extremely scarey, but pretty tame by today's standards.

Silence of the Lambs was probably the scariest movie ever. I saw it with 3 other people way out in the country, they both were passed out! I really do not enjoy scary movies I love comedy more! Scream was the only thing appropriate for me to check because that is what I do and the other movies really meant nothing to me. Blair Project was a fail for being scary in my opinion.

when creating the poll, they only give you 20 options, there are a few more films I could think of, Exorcist is one of them, that movie is scary!!

I've seen them marked by a few others, and I must agree:
The Exorcist and Hellraiser are two that are outstanding...JAWS gets a nod (to this day, I don't get too deep at the beach)

Picked Halloween becauseI feel it was the best of the list provided .

For me though it's actually Frankenstein!

Many versions have been made. Mary Shelley's [where Deniro's was good but not as dark and creepy] - Young Frankenstein [where Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder teamed to create a classic]. But to really get a great creep on it's gotta be...

The Legacy Collection that features 5 films from the 30's and '40's [including the Original with Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney Jr.].  The Hammer Studio's versions are noteworthy as well.

Psycho was the best because after its release, people gave up showering in motels.
