+2 thumbs upDepends on where I'm at...why I'm stressed out, and my "mood".  If I'm back in Idaho, it's either to the mountains to hike, fish, or Mountain Bike...or I'll just go shooting.  Here in the Peoples Republic of California, I stick to the booze...maybe some music...or a good classic comedy...when I was "healthy" I would go run for a bit...that burns stress...but I can't do that right now, so the alcohol does it job.  Maybe I should give props to my wife here...there's things she does that helps get rid of stress, too !

+2 thumbs upBeach with a waterfall and stay for the sunset. My dog is on Prozac so he wouldn't be invited to participate in mommy's stress free get-away. MAX

I go to The Falls of the Ohio fossil beds.  When I'm there and I realize how old this earth really is, I'm reminded that my problems are not quite as large as I think they may be.

The only calm time I have is my 90 minute drive home every afternoon, so that would be mine I guess.

My Computer Room/Office is my inner sanctum; if I'm stressed everyone knows it is off limits!!!

If things are really bad and it is day time, I go to the Botanical Gardens at Clemson University, sometime with bread for the duck, and I sit by the pond and just ponder the beauty that God has provided.  In time I settle enough to spend time with humanity.

If it is nightime, I go out to a place on Lake Hartwell and just sit and again poder not exploding---I enjoy the serenity of the lake and the night sky until I become more suitable to be around those I love...then I return home.

+4 thumbs upNot necessarily just the sunset... but the sunset on the ocean or just the ocean in general (not tropical, I'm not lucky enough to live there). I could watch the waves roll in or stare over the horizon for hours - especially when life is getting a little too chaotic. It doesn't matter what time of day it is.

I love to sit and watch the Ocean.  I live on the wrong side of the US to watch the sunset but I love watching the moon rise over the Ocean, the waves roll in and the stars come out at night.  It's amazingly calming and somewhere between realizing the vastness of the Universe spread out above me and the neverending roll of the waves onto the shore, I feel so lucky to be alive and able to just be in that moment,  and  nothing else matters for that little bit of time.   It's one of the most peaceful feelings I know.

+2 thumbs upVery peaceful...and very humbling. Just how huge and amazing it is makes you realize how small you (and your problems) actually are...but in a good way.

Lets see.....  My calm "special" place would probably be in a nice warm shower with a bar of soap and my left hand just stroki.............   Oops sorry guys- just got caught up in the moment for a second!    (actually- I'm an ocean type of guy- sorry about the little daydream there)

At the lake, sitting on the porch of the cabin with a drink in my hand and staring out at the water and just taking in everything that the outdoors has to offer
