 With out a doubt it has to be Elvis Dumvervil ,he is on a frantic pace with sacks this year....can anyone stop him???

 It's Ray Lewis. Sure some people may have more sacks or tackles or interceptions. Ray Lewis is the Most Valuable Player, he is the leader and heartbeat of a top tier defense. Anyone who thinks their has been a better defensive player in the league the last ten years needs to start watching football.

 Darren Sharper has like 6 INTs has has taken 3 back the other way to the house in 6 just games. That might be more TDs than entire Rams team all season. Plus he's helped make the Saints Defense a formidable unit.

 yes, I must agree dave, if I had to vote right now it would be Elvis Dumervil....he has definately done more for his team so far this year. I also think that Sharper is a close 2nd. but what an uplift for a Denver D that was pretty bad last year!!!!

 I dont believe the saints would be where they are without sharper and his abilities. I would love to honor my vikings with Jared Allen however the defense doesnt rely on him for the plays to keep the motivation. It is way to early to really know who is the mvp at this point but Sharper is needed and relied on by the saints drastically/

 I dont disagree with you about ray lewis and how much he means and meant to the Ravens. However this is a poll asking this year. While he is a dominant player for sure, I dont feel he is relied on as much as he was in the past. He is with much stronger players/ Not to say he isnt a great player for sure.

 It is hard to tell right now, what is it week 8?  But for now I would Say Darren Sharper with 2 Rs - He is the MVP of the Saints Defense and N.O. is looking like the best team statistically so why not vote Sharper. He takes it to the house when he gets it...

 As I said, it's kinda early to tell, but another consideration would have to be Jay Ratliff (DT/NT) Dallas Cowboys!  The Cowboys aren't giving up many yards on the ground and Ratliff is that BIG run-stuffing NT in the 3-4 Defense... Just a thought!

 who ever said Jared Allen deffinately doesnt watch that much football because last i checked, which was today, Elvis Dumervil has more sacks than he does. As for what i think its Daren Sharper because the leading intercepter last year was Ed Reed with 9 INT's and Daren Sharper already has 6 INT's
