Who is most synonymous with their team ? (Edited 08/18/08 04:54PM by Keeter)

Brett Favre left Green Bay.     Michael Jordan left Chicago.     Wayne Gretzky left Edmonton.     These were not only fantastic athletes, but names that were synonymous with their teams.      So, let's see who of the following we (on the Q) think is the most synonymous with their teams currently playing.

I tried to pick players who have played their entire career (or, almost 99% of it) with a single team, players who are recognizable outside of their market, who have been playing for roughly 10 years, and have been at the top of their sport.

There may be other names that come to mind; this poll is simply to rank who you feel is 'most synonymous' from this list; feel free to add additional names in as a Comment.

Thank you, hope you enjoy !

+1 thumbs upSmoltz has been with the Braves since day 1.  While the others I chose are all marquis members of their respective teams, John Smoltz has been there the longest.

Also if we're allowed to add other names to this list, I'd like to add Hines Ward.  There have been many different QBs, linemen, defenders, etc, but Ward has been a constant for the Steelers and is now in his 11th NFL season.  Heinz Field without Hines Ward just wouldn't be the same.

+1 thumbs upI'm not an incredibly informed hockey fan, but I was wondering how a couple of those guys were on there when Lemieux and Yzerman weren't.  I did just notice that it is only guys who are still currently with their teams, but they're pretty recent and didn't go to other teams.

Tom Brady in also the face of the NFL! His season ending injury hurts the glamour and excitement the Patriots brought every time they took the field. I watched the Patriots play because of Brady, now i'm having to deal with watching the LIONS  closer. Ouch.
