+4 thumbs upYzerman was a beast.  Scottie Bowman always said he never had to deal with a locker room arguement because Stevie always took care of it.

No actually he isn't. There has never been a better leader then Mark Messier.

Mark Messier is probably one of the best leaders ever. He is also one of the best PLAYERS ever. He has captained 2 teams (Oilers and Rangers) to cups- the only player to do so, winning 5 cups on the way. He is ranked 2nd all time in points scored. Stats aside, he is one of the toughest players ever to play that could also score (behind Gordie) and who always stood up for his teammates.

As for the argument of Yzerman being the captain of his team for all those years and almost his entire career, who cares? Crosby is going to surpass him playing for the Penguins, and he is definetely not one of the best CAPTAINS ever to play, nor will he ever be...one of the best players, probably, but that is an entirely different argument

No Gary Bettman lead Crosby's team to the Finals. Crosby lead them to utter destruction in the Finals.

If you actually have to ask who is better than Crosby, then you must not watch much hockey.

Yea ok. You apparently didn't watch any of the Penguins playoff games then. I like how you act like hockey is Canadian or something. Pretty funny considering Hockey has its earliest known beginnings (on ice anyway) in The Netherlands.

BTW there is no such thing as a "match". We play games, and none are fixed. Not even close to what Hockey has anyway.

Wow. I'm arguing with a child.

LOL man..sorry... i get too caught up in sports... i meant IN THE FUTURE..as in like, 10-15 years from now...and by match fixing.. i meant what they did in the NBA..hockey is pretty much a canadian sport because each team has 50% canadians on it.

Dude one referee got caught betting on games. That doesn't mean anything.

On what planet does each team have 50% Canadians on it? The Red Wings had 7 Swedes on their regular season roster, and 9 on their playoff roster. The Rangers have only 7 of 23 that are Canadian. Thats only 30%. Need I continue?

I am talking only about hockey. Feeling ok kid? Just stop talking while you're ahead. You're making a fool of yourself. Not uncommon for a child such as yourself, but please spare me.

Joe Sakic! Even was the Capt of the Canadian team that won the Gold in 2002 after a 50 year gold winning drought! Been the Colo/Quebec Capt since 1990-91
