Who talks the most nonsense at a sporting event? (Edited 02/08/08 11:44AM by Seth)
The recent poll answers are getting me kind of down. Let's debate an issue which should be a little more fun. Recently, I have noticed that when I attend a Kings game (hockey) there are three types of people---well, MEN ruining my experience. One is the "Know it ALL" spouting off criticisms about my team. This is OK when the info is correct, not so much when they get their facts wrong. Don't get me wrong I scream at my team with the best of them, but I do it in the privacy of my home, not at the expense of others who are trying to enjoy the game. Two, is the guy that basically gives an entire play by play during the whole game, usually trying to impress the person/people he is with. If I wanted to hear that, I would have my headphones on and my radio dial tuned in to highly qualified play by play men. Finally, three, guys who constantly shout out "Shoot" even when the puck is at center ice. What is your take? Who do you think talks the most nonsense at sporting events? Guys or girls?

+3 thumbs upI picked the wrong choice. Guys are definitely worse about talking about sports. This is one reason I can't stand going to baseball games in general. I know alot about baseball, but I'm not going to say I know everything. If I don't know something, I'm not going to pretend like I do. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to reach over my seat and clock someone right upside the head because of their sports talking stupidity.

I love the ones (when you are at an away game) who constantly yell that you suck(or even worse)!! Even though you are watching the game, not playing it. Then they want to fight for no reason or start throwing crap at you (Eagles and Patriots fans are the worse). And most of these guys are WAY PAST their playing and/or fighting days as apparent by their huge beer guts and nacho cheese stains on their jerseys, but they are surrounded by their throughly embarrassed friends giving them that invinceable mantra!! LOL. I've got NO TIME for any of these idiots!!

I don't think there's a big difference when I go to sporting events, and that's probably because Pittsburgh girls know a ton about the Pirates, Pens, and Steelers.  So for the most part, the girls can talk the BS just as well as the guys can.  I'll scream at my team at the game, and I get looks at times, but I really don't care.  However, I'm not going to sit there and say my team sucks when they're winning by 5 runs.

+3 thumbs upI don't think knowledge of the game comes into play with most of the guys I hear; hence, why I am annoyed by them. Ladies, in general, if they frequent a lot of games and are fans of a particular team are pretty knowlegable, and most do not feel the need to spout off their knowledge. I don't know why some guys do.

the question may have been re-posed as: "what gender talks the most trash?" or "what gender is is more testosterone fueled?" or "which gender most often annoys you at a sporting event?"

first of all, it's more than 70% men except for at figure skating or gymnastics.  second of all, society for some reason accepts a drunken, profanity-spewing man as "something we all tolerate", whereas a woman like that would probably have trouble finding a friend to go to the game with.  third of all, men are just louder and more opinionated than women.

these are not sexist statements; they can be backed up by demographic data (who goes to games) and social psychology (how men handle social situations and conflict compared to women.)  i'm a man, and it doesn't paint a pretty picture, but those are the facts as i see them.  the bonus is that if you have one iota of civility as a man, it's a seller's market when it comes to finding a date! ;)

Is it wrong of me to hate the girl in the middle because she is just so fat. When she goes to the hospital she will need a crane and walls torn down in her house.

To answer your question: yes.

You may not wish to date her, sleep with her, be friends with her, or otherwise condone her gluttony.  To hate her and ridicule her is wrong.

+7 thumbs upHockey games are the WORST!!
My "First" is the guy I seem to always get in front of me who brings a "newbie" to the game - and throughout the game, "teaches" the newbie a whole bunch of nonsense. I have an example - I had a guy in front of me explaining the game to his friend. His friend asked what the A was for on the sweaters - he said "I know what the C is for, but what's the A?" His friend told him "That's for alternate first line". heh?   These guys always take offense to my correcting them, btw...and that's annoying too. stfu

My second is puck bunnies. Need I say more? Quit screaming a guy's first name or a cutesy nickname to try and show you "know" the guys. stfu

My third - guy or girl - screaming out nonsense that makes it obvious they don't know the game - this gives the rest of us (rest of us being either Americans or girls, depending on the situation) a bad rap. stfu
