agreed on the bo jackson thing, but how do you put tyson 10, i feel like he may be too low on my ranking at 6, tyson was a huge deal, that's is all people talked about when he fought!

+1 thumbs up

I may have him too low but I really believe Hogan was bigger in the 80's. Tyson didn't come along until '86. Hulk-a-mania had 6 years on him. Say your prayers and eat your vitamins, brother!

But, he only fought a few times per year.  The others were in the spotlight more often.

but when you talked about basketball with your friends you could mention Magic, Bird, and others

the only boxer talked about is tyson and who is tyson knocking out next, not to mention that the sheer popularity of tyson created the way we are forced to watch boxing now, you could watch title fights on TV then Tyson came along and they thought these sheep will pay 30 bucks to watch this midget knock some giant uncordinated slob out in 30 seconds!

Tyson was at the top of boxing for 3 years of the decade.  Mavrin Hagler was more dominant then Tyson and was on top of his division for 7 years.  Ray Leonard also.  Larry Holmes ruled the heavyweights for 5 years.
