As much as I despise the Patriots, I can't really agree that an injury is a great thing to happen for the NFL.

Sad to see anyone get hurt at anytime, but I can't say that I'm heartbroken. If they are supposed to be THAT good, shouldn't they continue to win without Brady??? Hmmmmm- are they REALLY that good???

Change Matt Cassell to Chris Simms and I'll answer the poll.

And the answer is no because Chris Simms can't throw further than 15 yards. Wes Welker is happy, Randy Moss ain't.

+1 thumbs upBye-bye Pats!  The AFC East just became a free-for-all.  I still think the Pats will get to the playoffs by default, but won't do a damn thing once they get there, and that's if they get there.

I now think the AFC East is up for grabs-- the Bills looked good, and the Jets and Dolphins looked improved too.  I just don't see a clear winner here now when last week it was a division with those 3 teams playing for 2nd place....

The Patriots can go more to their running game, and keep the passing game simple for Brady's replacement (whoever that is) the way they did for him the first five years of his career.  Until last year this team never relied on their offense, and if they fail to make the playoffs this year it won't because Brady went down, it will be due to a failure on the defensive end.  Lest we forget this team has Moss and he once made Duante Culpepper a star.  Speaking of which, why haven't the Pats considered rekindling that old love affair?

Simple truth, the AFC East is the weakest division in football again, and the Pats are still the most talented team in that division.  10 wins will get them the division crown.  Losing Brady is more symbolic than anything else.

The running game is a severe offensive weakness for the Patriots.  If they don't make the playoffs, it will also be due to Matt Cassel's lack of talent compared to Brady, which we'll see once they play a decent team.  Why don't they reunite Moss & Culpepper?  I'll tell you why.  Culpepper isn't what he used to be, Moss or not.  He hasn't been the same since he fell victim to the infamous Madden Curse.  Granted Moss would help him get a bit of a second wind, but he'd be nowhere near as spectacular as he was in Minnesota.

I agree with you on the Culpepper thing, that was said more in jest than anything else.  But the Pats should be able to run the ball.  Maroney, if he stays healthy is a strong runner, and that offensive line will push people around.  They were ranked what, 7th in the league last year in ruching offense?  Overshadowed by the glitz of Brady to Moss I think?  This team will be able to move the ball and score.  If Cassel shows any ineptitude, they will find someone who can just execute the scheme the way Brady did early in his career.  The defense will win and lose games for them, and that defense is really their biggest weakness.

+3 thumbs up"Will Matt Cassell step up and do what Tom Brady did when Drew Bledsoe went down?"

If you are asking if Matt Cassell will take the Patriots to the Super Bowl this year, become a three time Super Bowl champion, a two time Super Bowl MVP, a four time Pro Bowl selection, a two time All Pro selection, an NFL MVP, and the all-time leading passer in the history of the Patriots...then I'm gonna say, no.

How about the rest of what I typed?  I feel bad he hurt his knee...It is good because we (the PAYING FANS), won't have to hear about the PAtriots Pursuit of well, anything.  Its great for the NFL because
