I am certainly no expert when it comes to the NHL, but my assumption is that this game is to draw fans who who normally not attend an NHL game - bring new converts to the sport.  If that is the case, then these two teams in this venue sounds like a smart move to me - but feel free to educate me people!

why not at Soldier field.  The Blackhawks are one of the leagues upcoming teams in a major market VS the leagues top team and best ratings team.

+2 thumbs upI would have loved to see this be an annual event at Ralph Wilson Stadium with the Sabres hosting.  The atmosphere was amazing earlier this year.  Western New York just seems like a great place for an annual outdoor hockey game.

Maybe because they thought they could sell out, or come closer to selling out, Wrigley rather than Soldier Field?  Maybe a conflict with the Bears?

+1 thumbs upThis will be a good game.  Defending Cup Champs () vs. a very good young team.  Probably in Wrigley because of the History over Soldier Field, or maybe they want to make it more intimate, people closer to the rink. Since I think this will be a yearly thing, obviously there are only so many places they can hold it, but for right now, get a good established team (defending champs) vs a good young team with potential each year.  I love this Game!!!

I thought it would be cool to see the Pens vs the Wings in a Stanley Cup rematch for the Winter Cup.... Either that.... or do a team that didn't win the Stanley Cup.... So maybe the Blackhawks vs. Washington.

It should be at Soldier Field, sure Wrigley has more history but to limit it to only 40,000 + doesn't make much sense to me. I don't know the seating capacity of Soldier but I am pretty sure it is over 60,000. Last year the tickets were "sold out" in 20 minutes and that was for a stadium that holds over 71,000.People other than fan of Chicago and Detroit will be attending this so to limit it to 40,000-45,000 seems silly. Also Wrigley Field is not normally open during the middle of winter and it could be interesting to have water in pipes that normally are empty then. Soldier field has been adapted to deal with harsh weather.  One would hope that the powers that be that made this decision have done their research.

There could be a scheduling conflict is why the game is at Wrigley Stadium (right Gordon). Or maybe the Bears would not allow it. Do you think the Blackhawks can sell it out?

Looking at the schedule there is no conflict. If the Bears would not allow that, thats a shame. I have no doubt that the Blackhawks,Redwings and fans of hockey will sell this out. It is more that just a game it is an experience. I was lucky enough to go to the "Ice Bowl" last year and it was a blast, the snow, the atmosphere, it was amazing.

I would go also. I am in agreement with you the game should be at Soldier field. That would be so epic to go to.

Plus I hope Chicago kicks the tar out of the Wings

If you can go, go for it you won't regret it. I am a Sabres fan and as disapointed as I was that the Sabres lost it was one of the best games I have ever attended. I hope the hawks win as well, you have the only sabre to score in the game now that you have Campbell.

+2 thumbs upI don't have a problem with the Wings and Hawks (expect to see a whole lot of Patrick Kane in the NHL's hype leading up to the game). But I'll admit, the thought of a Rangers-Islanders game at Yankee Stadium was pretty cool.

+2 thumbs up Two original Six teams playing at Wrigley Field, the Up and Coming youngster hawks against the Dead wings, who could ask for a better game and teams. It's a Hockey Dream Game.
