[ FAMILY GROUPS CALLS FOR MCDONALD'S BOYCOTT ] The American Family Association (AFA) in July called for a boycott of McDonald's saying the fast-food chain had directed " the full weight of their cooperation to promoting the homosexual agenda , including homosexual marriage " . In the last year McDonald's donated $20,000 to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Congress and put an excutive on its board of directors. The AFA said the company refused to removed to remove itdelf from the chamber, which led to the boycott . " This boycott isn't about hiring homosexuals , or homosexuals eating at McDonald's or how homosexual employees are treated " , AFA Chairman Dan Wildmon said in a statement . " It is about McDonalds's as a corporation , refusing to stay neutral in the culture war ". McDonald's spokeman Bill Whitman told the Washington Post that " hatred has no place in our culture" and that " we stand by and support our people to live and work in a society free of discrimination and harassment " . The AFA has previously boycott Ford Motor Company and Walt Disney Co. for their support of homosexuality .
