You're Doing What!?!?!? (Edited 07/21/08 10:43PM by Seth)

I'm on day four of my Master Cleansing. For those of you who are not familer with this, it's a detox method. I can't eat, drink, or smoke for 14 days! All I can intake is water and a mixture of lemon, ceyenne pepper, organic grade A or B or C maple syrup, and water (8 onces 6-12 times a day). Also I have to drink laxative tea right before bed and drink a quart of sea salt water first thing in the morning. Sound like fun huh!?!

I'm doing this to be healthier. As some of you know I used to drink excessively and smoke cigarettes on a daily basis, quit then just recently started smoking again. So I decided to challenge myself and to see if I can do this. If/when I make it the whole 14 days... I feel like I can do anything. Although the first couple of days were horrible, I'be learned to control my hunger and I don't think of not eating is a big deal :) After this, I'm definitely going to eat healthier, not drink, and no smoke. PLus I'll keep doing this cleansing process every 4 months, but not as long maybe just 7 days instead :)

My question is, in pursuit of living a healthier lifestyle or just want to detox your body... would you consider doing the "MAster Cleanse"? Or am I crazy for doing this :)

the alcohol part is not the problem for me..    it is the food angle..   I might be able to go 14 days in theory, but I am not eager to try it.

I do wish you a lot of luck and want you to succeed !! :)

A quart of salt?  Salt water or actual salt?

I do want to curb my drinking and stop smoking...eat only organic foods...no irradiated foods...etc.  But this thing sounds whack...no STEAK???  I need my beef (no homo).  I seriously admire what you're doing and have already SLOWLY started getting healthier, but I don't ever see myself trying this program.

I wish you the best, though!

Bryan-  when you drink, it is apparent that you like the letter "h" cuz you used it twice where you didn't have to.

I don't feel the need to cleanse, i'm just trying to enjoy life.  But I know someone who has done this, and I tried that Cleansing shake, or whatever you want to call it.  My goodness, it was something.

First off, Best of luck to you on this.  It takes a lot of strength and will-power to get through these but getting through the first 2-3 days seems to be the hardest.

I've never tried this particular cleanse but I have tried 7 and 10-day "juice fasts" where all you have is pure fruit juice (no added sugar) and water for a set number of days.  I always hate the first 2-3 days but by day 5 or 6 I can really feel the benefits.

again, good luck to you.

This just doesn't sound healthy at all.  I can certainly appreciate the fact that you feel you need to make a change and admire the that you are actually doing something about it, but this seems a bit extreme.  Starting change by making a 180 degree turn seems like setting yourself up to fail.  You're human.

+2 thumbs upThat sounds pretty brutal, not to mention extremely unhealthy for a 14 day period.  I hope you are taking some type of vitamin supplement at least.  I think if you have the willpower to go to that extreme you have the willpower to go ahead and quit smoking, drinking and just start eating a healthy balanced diet.  But if you think you need to do this I wish you the best of luck!

No I can't take any kind of supplements, the maple syrup and the lemon is my only nutrition for the next 10 days. It's not so bad anymore :)

Sure I'll try it

+1 thumbs upI guess you are stoned cause this "method" is not good for your body at all/also If you see these methods on infomercials they are probably not the way to go.  If a doctor recommended this, recommend they lose their license.  The price of cigarettes should make any person want to quit.  As for the Drinking I would never quit but thats just me!  Good Luck!  I wonder if they use this method on Celebrity Rehab?

I don't really see how lemons and maple syrup provide any nutrition.  I have seen a lot of "cleansing" methods and this, by far, sounds the unhealthiest.  As someone mentioned above, a 180 degree reversal of your habits is normally a set up for failure.  I commend you for wanting to better yourself.  Make sure you watch for symptoms in your body over the next 14 days that may signal a problem.  I would hate for something bad to happen as a result of not getting enough nutrition for 2 weeks.
