+7 thumbs upMichael Jordan would've never let his team blow a 25 point lead at home in the NBA finals.  Kobe is a great player, but he doesnt have the killer instinct that made Michael Jordan the best ever.

+1 thumbs upWhile Kobe might be the closest thing since, he'snot remotely close to being the player MJ is. True, he's a great player, but the only thing he's done since Shaq left is losing losing and more losing. Yeah he got to the finals, and his "awesome" team turned out the weakest performance of any team the Celtics had faced, including the Hawks - THE HAWKS OF ALL TEAMS! So much for the west finals being the real NBA Finals. Scott's right he doesn't have the killer instinct MJ had. Pro-Kobe fans throw out stats like the 81 to say he's better, go check out www.kb24overrated.com to see just how ridiculously badly Jordan has Kobe's number in every single significant stat, it's an incredibly deeply-researched and amount of stats. Whoever researched it has too much time on their hands haha

+2 thumbs upThose guys at kb24overrated are all MJ fans who despise Kobe...I know one of the founders "BruceBlitz" from YouTube...The guys are from Chicago and grew up in MJ's era. Kobe shoots 45% and MJ 50%....We all know Mike has the MVP's and 3 More Championships, but Kobe is only 29. After the FInals in 1992, MJ was 29 with 3 NBA RIngs and 3 MVPs. You never know what the future may hold for Kobe. I bet by the end of his career Kobe will be a bit closer to Mike, but for now MJ is the Greatest Of All Time!

Michael Jordan set the standards for greatness in the NBA. He always impressed everyone who watched him fan or not. Kobe on the other hand is narcissistic and I think he lets it get to his head when it should be in THE GAME. I guess his being young has something to do with it but MJ did it why cant he?!?!

He's 30 years old...that's not young in the NBA!

MJ had the charisma, stats, achievements, clutch performances and the ability to elevate the games of his teammates.  Remember PIP?  He was never a popular player when he arrived to the NBA.  Steve Kerr and John Paxson?  Trusted by his airness to win some games.  Kukoc?  The MJ of Europe and yet they gelled.  Dream team 1?  He made Chuck the top scorer and had no qualms about it.  Never had an AllStar center to help him win a ring.

The only thing Kobe is similar to MJ is his tongue sticking out and pumping the fists when his team is winning.  If it ain't happening, you don't see his confidence anymore.  Yes 81 pts., the dunks, fade away 3 pointers, etc.  Still about winning, character and attitude to be the greatest.

+1 thumbs upAs I said earlier kobe is no jordan but you cant take anything away from his accomplishments since he has been in the league and while he will never be jordan he is still the closest one in the NBA today.

+1 thumbs upKobe is not and never will be close to MJ. He had his chance this year to prove how good he is and FAILED> He isselfish and not a good guy. I never heard of MJ dissing on Jerry Krause, while he was the GM, or make a video and bag on teammates. If MJ ever did it was to their faces out of the public eye. Plus when the games counted the most MJ ALWAYS led his team to the victory. How about when MJ dropped 63 in the Boston Garden? Single handedly keep the Bulls in that series. It was 1 on 5. I can go on about MJ. Where is just one signature Playoff moment for Kobe? There is none

+1 thumbs upMan, lay off the drugs or alcohol. If Kobe is doing better than MJ please EXPLAIN to me how he was part of a team that blew a 25 point lead in a NBA finals game at home. Kobe is good, but nowhere near MJ. Let me know the next time Kobe scores 63 in the Garden and single handily keeps his team in a playoff game against a dynasty team. Or when Kobe gets 6 NBA Finals MVP's? Heck let Kobe get ONE NBA finals MVP. Its very naive to think that Kobe is doing better than MJ.

+1 thumbs upLook at the stats Kobe puts up. Kobe has never had a team like MJs and thats why Kobe isnt gonna get to many chances at Finals MVP. Kobe plays better than MJ and at the end of his career will be better than MJ. And u are basing it on one game, u think it was Kobe's fault for blwing the lead, i dont think so

+1 thumbs upUmmm, if you wanna compare him to MJ, I sure do. Sure lets look at the stats: MJ: 5 time NBA MVP, ! time Defensive player of the year, 9X NBA all defensive 1st team, 85 rookie of the year, 10 scoring titles a 30.12 ppg (reg season and the highest average for a career in NBA history), 33.4 ppg in the playoffs. Ok, Kobe: 6x all defensive 1st team, 1 MVP, 25.o ppg (reg season), and 24.3 ppg playoffs. 1997 all nba rookie 2nd team. 2 time scoring champ. Ok I looked at the stats. MJ is still the better player. Plus if Kobe is better than MJ he would have willed his team to not blow the lead. Or at the very least took over and stopped the bleeding. I can respect you like that ingrate Kobe. But to say he is better than MJ is quite foolish.

I dont know, he started when he was 18. I dont know what his passion is. I dont see him ever being a good enough teammate to euqal any of MJ's records

Thats good you think that. But he has a long way to go. He will never even be considered the best Laker when he retires.

Okay if a player didnt play for himself then wy would he play basketball. When u play for yourself u want your stats to be as high as possible and u want YOU to make it to the championship. Sports is playing for yourself. And Kobe is in a generation were athletes in the game of basketball are far better than what they were back in Chamberlains time or Magics time
