To me this the best poll I have joined since i have been a member. I am 57 years  and I feel great. I take real good care of myself and always investigating new information on aging.  I see more people planning for their death than those planning to live. It is a proving fact that exercise extends life. That with the latest technology on aging can improve a persons life span. Aging is a disease that will be defeated in the near future.  I always felt that acting out is a prelude to what happens in life. Act old and you will be old act young and you will be young.

There is anecdotal story after story of runners who have had a streak of running every day for over 30 years. And then when they quit running, a few weeks later they die.

I believe that if you train your body, that it can do alot more than we think. If you've done it regularly before, then keep it up. If you haven't participated in an activity for a long time, then start slow and work up to it.

Have at it you warriors of the chronologically challenged!

Athletes should be able to play until they are too senile.

I think as long as you are doing what your supposed to do, age does not matter. When age interferes, then most people realize when it is time to go.

If they can compete, if they still enjoy playing, I say go for it. I enjoyed watching Nolan Ryan pitch in his latter years as much as any other time in his career. I watched George Blanda kick field goals and throw TD passes for the Raiders as a old man. Watched Nicklaus win the Masters at age 46. When it gets ugly, it is time to go. Looks like Favre can still do it and it looks like he is having fun.

A sports person is sportive when he accepts that his mind is willing, body ain't., when advertisements are pulled out, new ones  do not come that easy, it is time to be mentor sportively.
