i definitely think he suffers from some burnout.   He didn't have time to grieve his dad when he was pushed into the limelight like never before.  He runs a business,  does ads and drives each week.  I think he still sponsers a nationwide car.   The boy has his hand into  too many cookie jars.

Hmmmm........there are 2 main reasons why that is.  1st, is the relationship between Theresa Earnhardt (Dale's widow, not JR's mom).....which is not a good one at all. Mostly because she is a resentful shrew.  2nd, is the fact that Hendrick wanted JR.in in their stable so he could not interfere with their 'golden boys'.........Jimmie and Jeffy.  Why else would he have so many engine problems when they obviously do not?   IF the reins of DEI been handed down to him, I can promise the past few years of his career would have turned out a lot different.

I think the boy is burned out and has already peaked. He had alot of good Seasons and he is capable of winning. The cars and the drivers are so much more equal now, that it is hard for people to win multiple races per Season. Really only what 6 or 7 Drivers have multiple wins this year?? He also has lots of interests, and his schedule is hectic. In some ways I feel bad for the guy and in others I don't. I hope he has some more success in the Years to come, but I truly Believe that more drivers will not race through their 40's and into their 50's like they have in the past. best wishes to him, whatever he decides to do.

dale has always been riding his daddies legacy. Sure he has been giving some good equipment based on his name but he can't seem to tell the crew cheif how to fix it. I always thought Dale was overhyped. what has he won? Davtona and dega. thats about it. a few races here and there. he has missed the chase and struggles every year. he is never a threat to win the cup and probally never will. I'm not saying he isn't a good driver, but heck, look at what the worst driver in nascar (micheal Waltrip) has done with the same equip jr had. simular results on same types of tracks. Dale would of probally gotten a chance in nascar not because of his name, but he would never have been as popular if it wasn't for his namesake

ive said it before and will always say, and i know there are some out there who agree with me.. if it wasnt for who his daddy was he would not be nearly as popular as he is, nor would people expect so much out of him.. hes never been much more then a middle of the field driver.. he has had many races when he has ran exceptional, and many other races he has ran very poorly and never had mechanical problems.. i cant nessicarily blame the mechanical problems on Jr. i am sure if he would have been handed the company like he should have been, he may be in a diffrent position then he is in now, but there is nothing he could have done diffrently there.. and thats now in the past, he now needs to work on his communication and his teamwork to becaome a better driver, he is now with the best team in NASCAr, and its kind of sad his 3 teammates are all in the chase, and he didnt make it in.. its pretty sad if you ask me..

Seems like Jr has been distracted since he got to HMS.  With only one win and a hand full of top tens it would appeat that his mind is and has been on something else.  Its possible this deal with Dannica could be part of it but I feel there is more than meets the eye.  Jr may be the most popular fan, but that also places him under a microscope by the media as well as his fans and the haters.  With team mates like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin, its quite possible that Jr doesnt have the best equipment or the best crew.  Hendrix may  have put all his golden eggs in to Jimmie Johnsons team, which is why Jimmie is approaching his fourth consecutive championship.
Ill still cheer for Jr and hope that he is able to turn things around.

I dont think Jr. is riding his dads coattails, but they wouldnt be bad ones to ride either! I honestly dont think he is burned out either. Even though thats what I voted. I really thing the problem is the COT. I dont think he has it figured out. When he drove the old car, he drove the wheels of that thing! Then the COT came and he doesnt really even challenge that much. I dont think he explains what its doing as much as say, Jimmie or Jeff. His team mates all run good pretty much every weekend. But JR, doesnt. He has the best equipment out there and Hendricks has enough resourses for them to figure it out. But also if you notice, when he is not happy, his day gets worse and worse, and he starts complaing, and just rides out there. I dont think the crew chief change made any difference. I really think its the car and hes just not communicating what he needs that well.  Is he burned out? Yeah probably of not contending week in and week out. Did he make a bad choice of goin to Hendricks? No way! They are giving 100%, maybe he should!?!?

I don't think it is any of the above!  Jr has a lot of pressure on him to perform great every week.  He's had problems with his cars in almost every race.  They can't seem to find a set up that fits him.  He is more disappointed with his performance this season as anybody else is!  It's confusing to me how all of his team mates cars aren't having these problems, but JR's is.  Also, it doesn't help that the fans and haters expect so much out of one person.  Jr is not the only driver out there that has not won a race this year!

JR has spread himself too thin....he wants to be a driver, owner, businesman, and celebrity and it is not working out for him, nor would it for any other cup driver...if he wants to be a top nascar driver he needs to spend more time at the shop and in the gym and dedicate himself to putting his best effort on the track every week. He has lost "the eye of the tiger" in my opinion.......

Because I havent been able to bring him any donuts this year!

Actually, It's a combo of things IMO, and I am not gonna beat another dead horse. The boy will do what he has to/wants to,and when he gets tired of it, he'll be an owner.

It's funny how people forget other drivers who have had a slump in their career!
Facts:
Jeff Gordon  did it, fighting through an 88-race win less streak that had people questioning whether he could still compete.
Dale Earnhart SR  the elder did it, fighting through a 59-race skid that had people questioning whether the sport had passed him by.

Dale Jr is much smarter than people like to give him credit for!

people are just so hard on Jr. because he is such a popular driver.. if he wasnt who he was, nobody would care..

Maybe he should let Danica drive his car the next 3 races, then he would have time for you and realize how in love he is with you! You could take all his stress and worries away!!

MMMmmm kinda have to agree with some of what you said, especially his "step" mom. Jr will pull thru tho and shine once more I am sure! Just wish he had time for a love life, Thinking a good woman would ease his mind.

I think there's a couple of things going on with Junior. One being he has fits with the handling of the COT. Heck I don't like the car and after what we've already seen the past few weeks, those cars need something them on the ground, that's ridiculous. I think with Lance McGrew, Junior is doing better than with Tony Jr. even though I liked him, he wasn't the crew chief Junior needs. Junior needs someone who isn't afraid to speak out against him or yell at him to get his head in the race. You can already see the improvement in that area. There's too much pressure on Junior with all the crap about his Dad. Junior wants to be his own man and people need to realize that. I'm ready for next year because I have a feeling that Junior is going to be a driver to contend with by then.

I'm about ready to ask Mr. Rick Hendricks this question.  Why has JR had so much car trouble this year?  The other three have practically cruised through the season. WTF is going on with this?

I mean really, Junior's troubles are magnified by his popularity, which during this kind of season can become irritating and ill-fitting. The guy won a race last year. He made the Chase last year. Is he yet to live up to the true potential of his union with Hendrick Motorsports? No question. JR has endured a terrible season with pit-road mistakes, mechanical troubles, and poor efforts on the race track? Absolutely. people act like he's in the midst of a 10-year losing streak or something. He's won more recently than Harvick, than Bowyer, than JPM, than Newman. So don't quite label Jr as finished just yet.

ive never considered him as finished, i just wish he would perform better, i know he has the equipment and the backing to do better then what he is.. i know you cant blame the mechanical stuff on him, and i know hes not perfect.. i mean driving right past your pit box, well, cant blame anyone but himself for that.. lol.. i know hes capable of being better.. he just needs to prove it to all the haters..

Not only are all three of his teammates in the Chase, but they are currently 1-2-3 and the two other Hendrick equipment cars are in the Chase (and could finish 1-2-3-4.)

He struggles because he is just not that good.  Change the name and he is just another driver.  He is living off the name of his Dad and Grandad.
